Figuring Out Product of Equilibrium Equations? (1 Viewer)

How do you find what the product is from these equillibrium reactions:

1) Fe3+ (aq) + SCN- (aq) <---> ???
2) PCl3 + Cl2 <---> ???
3) 2SO2 + O2 <---> ???
4) I2 + H2 <---> ???

I want to know what to do to figure these out, and what state signs they would be. Thx.

In general there's no "rule" to figure out what should be on one side of an arbitrary chemical equation (and even when there are rules in Chemistry, there's usually lots of exceptions to them). You basically need to rote learn the key equations and states. Of course, some types of equations have rules, like 'acid + base → salt + water', etc. (you should be familiar with the basic rules like these too).

i) FeSCN2+ (aq) This is the Iron (III) Thiocyanate Ion hence being aqueous

ii) PCl5 (g) Phosphorus Pentachloride

iii) 2SO3 (g) Sulphur Trioxide

iv) 2HI (g) Hydrogen Iodide
