How hard is a finance major at MQ or UTS and what level of math is required?
Tbh, nothing in commerce or business is 'hard' in a sense that you can get by every single unit if you put in effort. The hard part is excelling in it (i.e. 90+s and ranking in the top 3 for a few courses). At USYD, 2 unit is sufficient but I've said in another thread that almost everyone except 1 finance gun that I know did 2 unit in high school (and topped the state in it) everyone else did 3u/4u (with 95+ marks).
So the 'required' maths is 2 unit. Can you do well with general? Of course you can. You can do well with no maths if you're willing to learn the whole foundation of basic mathematics through independent study (easier said than done).
Finance major at UTS and MQ is materially more theory based compared to Usyd/Umelb (they have units dedicated to case study approaches). Which would make it relatively 'easier'.
