My Science teacher was telling us about how when he taught at some dodgy East London school, a kid got stabbed by another kid with a sharpened plastic ruler.
Pretty sure there was a case of a primary school teacher injuring himself with "safety" scissors.I've seen compasses used for similar purposes
Our class chucked a medium block of sodium into water. Was a pretty good distraction from a wedding 200m or so away from us.We had a student teacher come in year 10, and he was going to show us the sodium + water prac. He cut himself on the tin when getting out the sodium, and it was a really deep cut (blood was dripping on the floor) but he refused a bandaid for some reason and just continued acting tough like nothing happened
The stigma of hatred for maths has been established since ages ago. Whilst people might've been able to cope with elementary number theory, not many at all seem to appreciate the relationship between numeric and subsequently algebraic/geometric/... relationshipsLove is the antithesis of rationality. Mathematics is the purest form of rational thought. The greatest practitioners of mathematics, are also it's greatest lovers.
I dropped a whole rack of test tubes once, and as the teacher turned the corner to inspect the mess, he stepped on the glass shards with his BRAND NEW shoes (how convenient for me).... My marks were never the same againI dropped a test tube

The capacity for rationality doesn't exclude the capacity for art, music or writing though. Nor does mathematics being an art-form imply a lack of rationality. That being said, you obviously are far more knowledgeable than I am in it's study so lel.Mathematics does not demand rationality. Some of the greatest mathematicians were also great musicians, artists, writers...
My understanding of mathematics is that it is an art, and like any art, it is difficult to truly appreciate by the laypeople.
Of course, it really doesn't help that "mathematics" in school is mostly a jumbled bunch of computational garbage with barely any artistic elements to it whatsoever.
Compounding that is the fact that people conflate mathematics with intelligence, and also the fact that it's applications are necessary for the functioning of society, so that's all we focus on in high school.
That looks very dangerous. Do they let kids in schools use them? What a safety hazard!I can't tell whether you're joking or not...
If you aren't then here are some broken ones
