Chem is great. Physics is the best though
He said it before he just hated it cause he never understood it; just roted it.

I personally understood both but actually found chem to make more sense.

EDIT: Though, I struggled understanding physics on many occasions. Astrophysics took ages for me to finally get my head around it for example, and some parts about ideas was just boredom. Motors is just FU compared to space.

Yeah, tbh I only kept it as long as I did because I was doing vaguely well in it, and based on my school's usual performance in chem I would probs get a band 6
In the end though, I realised I simply didn't enjoy studying it, and I had 13 units so I said goodbye lelele

Randomly reflecting on my science-y self...

I only like applied science when it cleverly incorporates an element of something more pure. E.g. maglev trains, at first sight, are just superconductors that move, but the use of AC and the fact a current carrying conductor produces a magnetic field to accelerate/decelerate it is quite some neat shit.

Couldn't agree more. Personally I think Chemistry is far better than Physics but it maybe because I have a crappy teacher lol.

Roting all the stuff on ethanol as potential fuel source etc. was blech but actual chemistry was beautiful. E.g. Solubility with intermolecular forces, chemistry of ozone. Even the freaking Contact process for H2SO4 production (industrial chem) was pretty good and you can easily call that "applied chemistry"

For me I've found basically everything conceptual in physics so far pretty intuitive, like I can see how it all builds on each other to like work lol
Even the stuff that isn't really conceptual (rote) I've generally found pretty interesting

Hmm I don't think physics actually stopped making sense for me until relativity. But then I worked my around it because I developed my own means of analysis. And then I didn't get stuck again until the AC induction motor and I was like wtf is a squirrel cage.

Ah, you're in a similar situation to me, my teacher is actually an English teacher (and not a very good one either), but she teaches SDD. And as for reading the textbook, which one do you use? There's hardly and material out there for SDD, not that it's really required though. Does your teacher place a heavy emphasis on documentation?
We've come to the point where we call it Software Documentation, and Documentation.
I'm using Software Design and Development: The HSC Course Second Edition by Samuel Davis. You can tell the author thinks SDD is a joke subject: "Joe and Mary meet after work for dinner and discuss their fears regarding the new system that is being implemented at the place of work. Mary believes that she will be made redundant when the new system is operational. Her fears are commonplace in the given scenario and fall under the category of: A) Social and Ethical issues, B) Legal issues C) Technical issues D) Operational issues"

If it's anything like yr9-10 IST.....
I still can't get over the fact that I had to handwrite code
God, I remember in the yearly exam it wanted you to write a program (can't remember what for)
and then people got full marks writing some kind of pseudocode bs that had legit 0 logic
I wrote it out properly, got like 1/4, but like mine would've like you know actually worked lol
had to appeal to get full marks

even though i was first by a huge margin i refused to continue with such a joke subject ahahha
i figured i might as well just teach myself (i ended up learning python over 10-11 holidays)

Oh, yeah I figured, like he REALLY likes maths! //All hail Paradoxica, who's probably gonna state rank 4u.
Actually now that I think of it, what subjects do you do Paradoxica?
I don't think I've ever seen you post about any subjects other than maths (except a few physics posts)

By the method of induction, I'm sure you can figure out what my other subjects are.

I completed an entire assignment this weekend. :monkey:

3 A4 pages of writing (size 8 font), and a PowerPoint presentation.

Thank you Nailgun, for providing a link to that Harvard referencing generator. I only had to make a few minor tweaks.

Feeling quite self assured - bring on my A grade!

2U maths, we don't learn induction

but if i had to guess

4u math, Adv eng, sdd, physics (and maybe chemistry?)

Lel feels, i was confused on the squirrel cage shit for soo long, had to dig deep in order to fully understand it.
Also lee, iirc you said that it took you a while to understand the reflux prac. Was it the actual theory of reflux or the experiment itself? Coz i just read about it and it doesnt seem so bad

Sien is pretty retarded from time to time tbh
aight m8
You say sien is retarded but you quote nail.

#thingsleehuandoesotherthanmath
because nail is also retarded :')
Because I was informing him. He was referring to something Sien said earlier in this thread

Also tbh maths is losing appeal to me. I wish I did chemistry at uni. But I'm not backing out either because maths will get me jobs
you're not loyal to mafs
GL for your assessment tomorro.

After you finish, we can GoParty XD
lmao dat pun
