Place offers at UNSW are based on Atar+Umat+Interview weighted 1/3rd each. Extracurriculum is maybe 1/10th of the interview assessment so worth around 3percent overall, could be important or unimportant depending how close you are to the place cut-off.
The video clip on UNSW Med website says for 2016 successful applicants
- Standard: ATAR median 99.6 lowest 97.5, UMAT median 65.4 = 196 overall (98%ile)
- Rural: ATAR median 97.6 lowest 91.6, UMAT median 58.6 = 176 overall (86%ile).
Your Atar goal 98+ is a bit low if you are non-rural. Can get in but you will need 98+%ile Umat and an excellent interview to make up.
