BTW to anyone here who did brave new world, what was your related text?
I used a poem we did in prelim [emoji23]. It works well as it essentially holds the same values.
Word of caution: Don't use Harrison Bergeron as literally every teacher teaches their class it as a related with BNW
And dont do V for Vendetta, every kid in the state does it

i got super depressed when thinking of school ending but am becoming super hapy this week because its finally ending.

mainly because of my schools bullshit views, moronic and delusional dictator principal, and just in general stupidity of this period. first of all imo the system is warped because they expect us to study and be serious during last times we will have with ALL of these people ever and not letting us muck around (we didnt ever even have muck up days ffs). secondly, the school stupidly expects you to come everyday still for no reason and go to every class, only recently I started jigging and regret that I didnt jigg earlier in my school life especially. I'm jigging all the classes I hate now and dont care about the teacher's feelings because its their view thats faulty.

not to mention my science teachers especially are ass and at least for chemistry makes it the most boring subject in existence whilst in prelim it was fun (contrary to what a lot of peoples opinion is ) and I dont mind researching it on my own.

rn im happy as fk to be graduating, jigging a couple classes tomorrow (only have like 4 periods on a thursday), and last period and maybe another on friday (last proper day of school for us).

happy as now :)

^forgot to mention do androids of electric sheep? and gattaca but most people (for brave new world) do either animal farm, V or vendetta and Bladerunner (since bladerunner and Brave new world used to be studied together in the old HSC syllabus)

Also just curious but what's wrong with doing common related texts?

Yeah Picturebooks aren't popular related texts when you compare it to other forms of related texts (i.e. movies like Bladerunner, gattacca or V for vendetta or novels like Animal farm and do andriods of electric sheep?)

Also isn't BNW the most popular prescribed text for Mod C? (I believe the crucible is as well but BNW is more popular)

Mod C has similar concepts to my elective in EE1 (After the Bomb) so I've just used the same ORTs - Catcher in the Rye/Slaughterhouse-Five. Using Catcher for AOS as well :3

Speaking of 'picture' books, The Butter Battle Book would be a really good fit with ATB and Mod C - I'm thinking of swapping out Catcher to use it. Depends how bothered I am with the extra analysis tbh.

Does EE1 improve your english advanced skills?
Not necessarily. For me, it has only really helped as my teacher in EE1 is much more experienced than the Advanced faculty. (she teaches Standard for my cohort) Some of the research, and the content of the electives, may help depending on the nature of specific modules. For me, ATB has helped with Mod C - there is a focus on politics + my prescribed (The Crucible) mirrors the Cold War era, which is the basis of ATB. I have friends that do Romanticism that say EE1 has helped with Mod B because their prescribed text is set within the era etc. In terms of the course itself - it's mainly just contextual understanding.

are you thinking of doing it?
Too late to pick it up. Kinda regret not doing it though, even though I'm crap at english. Probably would've helped me a lot in english as I am constantly practicing my skills with a much higher depth required

I would say a common trend is that people who do very well in advanced also do ee1/ee2. However maybe it is because they are good at adv that they are doing ee1/ee2. Don't worry about it though - you can do fine without.

Sorry to interrupt your little eco discussion... (if it's not already over)*ahem* ... but just gotta say:

No way!! that's the same prescribed text as mine for english wooo! hahahaa, now I'm curious, what's your related WLL (sorry if you've already mentioned it before, I haven't really been reading the past few pages)?
Sorry for the late response :) I used Margaret Atwood's "The Age of Lead" - another completely pure scientific discovery with specks of reassessing of one's perspective. What are you using?

Does EE1 improve your english advanced skills?
Was an ex-EE1 student. Personally didn't like it and didn't see it as something that improved my essays but forced me to practise a lot of creative. Wouldn't say that EE1 would improve you...if you weren't at the level required firstly

No problem; cool! I've been using 'Interstellar' by Chris Nolan so far - not sure though if I want to change or just use this for my final HSC paper. Do you think it's bad having two films (although one is a documentary and one is science fiction)?

PERSONALLY, I dislike using film actually! I just can't really articulate myself through film techniques, so I stick with short stories :) ! If the marks are decent (from your previous assessments) and you (and the teacher) feel satisfied, keep it ^____^ But to be honest, isn't the general rule to do a medium different to a film?

Yeah I'm not too sure. I guess my teacher seems happy since she hasn't really said anything about it. Also it's not a documentary; it's a fiction film so maybe that is different enough? haha idk.

Worst comes to worst if on the day they ask you for two related texts you can just analyse one of those in paper 1 section 1.

If both your related texts are a film then unless you can hurry up those new quotes, or your prescribed text is a film, stay with it
