s7 from kogan vs from jbhifi (1 Viewer)

hey guys if anyone can give me advice would be great. So i want to get a s7 as a new phone. The thing is the kogan one is an international model and the jbhifi is the aus model. i was wondering has anyone used/had an international and if so how is it going? some people say the bands are different and it might not work with the carrier. Also the price difference is massive around 300 difference with the international model vs aus model. anyone know pros and cons for the 2 types of phones. Your inputs woud be great.

I didn't buy from Kogan before but I do have an international model S7 Edge which I bought in Singapore.

Don't do it.

Yes the savings are huge but when things go wrong, you'd be amazed how difficult it is to fix. Both my wife and I moved to S7 Edge's this year and since we bought them whilst in Singapore as we lived there. She dropped her Apple Watch onto the S7 Edge (ironic I know) and it cracked the screen even with the tempered glass protector and case. Samsung Australia refused to be involved in the repair or even look at it since it's an overseas model which has slightly different features/specs (e.g. dual sim) and hence we had to get friends to bring it back to Singapore to get the screen repaired. Physically on the outside it's identical to a local model but because of these deviations, Samsung weren't willing to touch it even though we were willing to pay to get whatever parts they needed in.

Unless you are planning to go overseas alot and can get it serviced, stick to local spec. If you need to save some money try to get the GST back by going overseas.

Is there any reason why you had to get it repaired specifically through Samsung? Third-party screen repair/replacement services are so common nowadays that there's very little risk of anything going wrong. I had my old Sony Z3 scren and digitiser replaced third-party, and it is working perfectly fine.

Agree. Further, if you buy from Kogan, you can deal with them directly and they will handle the repairs process. With the international model it also is a bit different in that it comes with a univeral adapter. Software should still be the same.

I went with Samsung because they're the only ones who will be able to maintain your IP68 (waterproof) rating on a Edge. The other reason why it's so expensive is because it's an Edge (both sides curved screen) - I asked around with third party shops in the shopping malls and got quoted everywhere from $400 to $550 to replace it with OEM parts (but not officially Samsung).

I switched to iphone 7 plus recently. Its actually pretty good. At first a bit hesitant, some things weren't as user friendly as android, but as I learnt things, I really started liking it.

It has one of the best cameras imo, which is half the reason I bought it.

I also switched (sortof) to the iPhone 7 Plus. I'm enjoying being back on iOS and the experience is great BUT I miss the back button. I now understand why Android users hate not having it especially after using my s7 edge + MiMax so much. I still carry all three phones (yes I know..) but my first choice is usually the iPhone 7 for anything other than taking photos. I like the s7 more since I have the Samsung Lens Case (the one with the two switchable huge lenses) but the iPhone 7 Plus with the 2x zoom isn't bad too.
