did he tell you where we would find our contracts? The manager told me i would find it online, but im not too sure where.

Wow! The chances for auditing are so good. Apparently Ey takes 10ish each yr for cadet roles. Basically 10/16 get the role wowow

how much is EY paying their Cadets? is it in line with mid tiers and smaller firms or what?

nope, typically big 4 pay less to their cadets than mid tiers because demand is inelastic. No matter how low the pay people still come for the training and prestige associated. From what I've heard big 4 cadets get around 32-35k. Mid tiers can be as high as 46k (incl super). Although mid tiers can go down to 35k and lower even.

and if you want a cadetship purely for the money I recommend you look at other options, if you're not truly passionate you'll be found out real quick.

At the information night they told us that 7-8 get picked for assurance, 14-16 for tax and 1 for TAS

I'm sure it's more than 7-8 for assurance. Why would tax be double audit when I'm pretty sure audit is their largest division? I don't remember them telling us this at the info night, did hr tell you in conversation?

They told wrong. Around 20 for assurance and 5 for tax.
