But interestingly for problem 3, Australia beat every other country with a total of 8.

Only 2 people solved it completely: Linus Cooper from Australia and Mikhail Ivanov from Russia who both got 7 out of 7 for it. Australia got 1 more point from Haydn Tang which made us beat Russia for that question and consequently every other country!

Another interesting statistic is going by lowest averages, question 3 in this year's imo seems to be the hardest question ever in the history of the imo.

So Australia beat the rest of the world in the hardest imo question ever.

That's a pretty good statistic I reckon.

Iranian and first female Field Medalist Maryam Mirzakhani passed away ten days ago at the age of forty. Reading about her, I was amazed she won gold in both the 1994 and 1995 IMO with perfect scores. A brilliant light so prematurely dimmed. What a loss to the mathematics community.

Was looking through the IMO and IOI results and some Japanese person, Yuta Takaya, got first in both.

What a gun!

Looking at the photo, it appears that not having a neck is a big advantage in progressing to this level.
