Hi,
As the title suggest can anyone explain why archaeopteryx fossil are important in shaping our understanding of the origin of life and the processes in the evolution of living things

It's because it is a transitional fossil between dinosaurs and modern birds. It has avian features such a wishbone and reptilian features.
Expanding on this the reptilian features are claws, teeth, long tail. The bird features are wishbone and feathers.

The archaeopteryx is part of the HSC course too for transitional fossils showcasing evolution, so it's good that you know it now.

I think it also shows there being a common ancestor between reptiles and birds, which provides evidence for evolution from a single original organism.
