Hiya! Just wondering if anybody here will be a first year student doing Bachelor of Cyber Security and Behaviour this year! I know we're not able to organise our timetable until tomorrow, but it's still nerve-wrecking just thinking about it xD

I don’t do this degree but welcome to Western!
Thank you very much! It's fine even if you don't do this degree! What degree do you do though if you don't mind me asking? Also, I'd like to ask a question. Is it compulsory to have a major along the degree that I'm doing? :O

I do the Bachelor of Business (Advanced Business Leadership) degree.

In most instances you will be required to choose a major. A major is basically a specialisation, as in a specific field you wish to study within your degree.

I’ve had a look at your degree and from what I’ve seen, it looks like your degree doesn’t have majors, but rather pathways (placement and research), which you undertake in your third year.

Is Parramatta South your campus? I study my degree at Parramatta City. 😄

That's nice! Does that mean you intend on opening up your own buisness in the future? :D But considering you take an advanced degree, the workload must be considerably severe huh... Or does an advanced degree doesn't necessarily mean "advanced"?

Thanks! So in my case, I don't need to worry about things like majors since I'll have pathways instead? Can I assume that I just need to do my main core of units for this Autumn period then? Do I need to worry about electives?

Yep Parramatta South is my campus! What's it like to study at Parramatta City? :O Sorry for all the questions QwQ

I could start my own business in the future. However, since my major is HR I’m planning to build experience first and then hopefully complete an MBA and work in more senior positions. Once I have enough experience I can definitely start my own business! 😄

My degree was pretty challenging to get in, mainly because it requires a 95 ATAR. It also requires me to maintain a GPA of at least 5.0 in order to stay in the course. We have to do 4 extra units (ABL core units) and because of that we’re only allowed 4 electives in the whole degree as opposed to the regular Bachelor of Business (8 electives).

I’ve included a link to your course handbook:

It shows you what units you should be doing in each session. You can choose to pick electives any time you want really as long as that doesn’t hinder your progress. For example, I was meant to take my first elective this autumn, but I had to take it in the Spring semester of my first year, which is why I won’t be taking any electives this semester.

Your questions are great, honestly! Parramatta City is a pretty nice campus tbh. While you miss the authentic multi-building uni experience, I feel it’s much easier to find your classes in a vertical campus, not to mention how young the campus itself is (about 3-4 years old I’m pretty sure).
