Just to give a bit more insight into positive and negative connotations (in case anyone finds it useful ):

• A positive connotation constitutes the good feeling or emotion that is associated with a particular word.
• A negative connotation constitutes the bad feeling or emotion that is associated with a particular word.

Examples of positive connotations include:

• frugal
• interested
• confident
• easygoing
• dedicated
• driven

Examples of negative connotations include:

• arrogant
• cheap
• lazy
• stubborn
• nosy

mine are imagery, symbolism, tone, modality, first/second/third person ...
what else can be used?

Imagery, polysyndeton/asyndeton, first/second/third person, alliteration...I fall back onto these when I can’t think of/find more of the “sophisticated” ones
for images salience, vectors and colour

Boys lets get these fake techniques circulating so they become real. If your feeling stuck use these techniques:

Metamorphium is when a sentence has five words or more. E.g. Her name was Jemamine the great.

Xelongation is when a sentence's first word begins with a vowel. E.g. Abigail's pants were green.

With these techniques we'll become invincible.

I'll just publish them on the urban dictionary real quick.

Sophisticated...well they’re probably not THAT sophisticated but I guess things like allusion, epithet, epiphany, juxtaposition/paradox/oxymoron, truncated phrases, anaphora, motifs, metaphors/allegory, pathetic fallacy, tautology, repetition etc

The ones I’d say are probably that step up would be chiasmus, epizeuxis, symploce, antithesis...but these are a bit more niche

Edit: Just remembered synecdoche and metonymy as well

For images you can also use chiaroscuro (contrast between light and dark) which basically applies everywhere pretty much
