That is a good tip to have it separately on the desk as it's more stable. I wouldn't worry about writing sound because in a hall where there will be 100+ students writing, no one's going to be concerned about the minor sounds coming from your table; they will all be immersed and concentrating on their exam. Anything to make you write faster, AS LONG as the writing is quality writing and it is legible, go for it.

That's perfect for Paper 1 and Paper 2 (traditionally, the short answer questions for Paper 1 may take a bit longer as it's the first time you would have come across it, whereas with your essay, you would have gone through it many times before)

just do it who cares if others get annoyed by the loud noises. that will just give u an advantage bc it will prevent the other students from focusing, therefore allowing u to sabotage them
