It's interesting, because from the school I went to (a top 10 selective school), they never offered any options of accelerating maths. Is it something which the top selective schools just don't offer (like Ruse, NSB, NSG, BHHS, etc) or does it depend on the school and the calibre of the students?
doesn't syd boys have accel 2u

It’s entirely at the discretion of the school. The top selective schools do offer acceleration in other subjects (for example agriculture at JRAHS), which lightens the number of units & study load in Yr 12. Our local school previously wouldn’t offer acceleration. My eldest studied all 14 units in one year (15 units of study if you count the fact that she studied Adv maths, Ex1 & Ex2 at the same time). It didn’t seem like a level playing field, so I negotiated with the school before I enrolled our son. Lucky for us, the new Head of Maths had previously taught at JRAHS and she was amazing. All the students in her class could use Maths Pathways / Maths Online to work at their own pace & DS zoomed through the curriculum.

Yh, they have accelerated 2U (which I'm sure many schools provide), but not accelerated 3U or 4U, which I believe the discussion prior to this was about.
Before the new Head of Maths arrived, my eldest wasn’t even allowed to work ahead in preliminary or 2U maths (her teacher, who thankfully retired, even complained to me about it at P-T interviews).

I guess you do have to be very careful with accelerating subjects. It can sound like a good way to lighten the load in Year 12 (as you correctly mentioned), but it can also have its disadvantages. For example, accelerating a subject requires a lot of maturity and dedication, and schools which offer this option to students in Years 10-11 may not have the right maturity, albeit only a few years younger, than a Year 12 student. On top of their current subjects which teachers may still expect them to get work done for, balancing HSC or preliminary content can also be a challenge.

I have indeed - but it's a bit of a mess. It's a collection of bits and pieces by various people (including myself for 13a) - but it totals up to complete solutions.
cheers about to see whether the e4 is still in reach...

Just note that the wolframalpha solution for 16c seems incorrect. I probably should delete it. Paradoxica's looks better.
about q13b) the integral one, if you did a trig sub and left limits in arccos(root whatever) and it came out as the right number i believe 136/5, do you reckon its still a viable full mark or was the other sub needed?

i reckon it is. i did trig sub as well but forgot to carry a factor of 243 out the front the whole time so i got the answer divided by 3^5. but it still works in the end. would i get a carried error here and lose 1 mark? in the end it said evaluate and it didnt specify the sub

also is all the net force required for 14b? like i just did down the slop being perpendicular to the slop and it got the same answer

Alternative solution to 15d.

By Fermat's Last Theorem, for

Also,

Not sure if it would be accepted though.

Perfectly valid proof though.
if thats accepted thatd be really unfair. the correct way is to expand the rhs like a binomial (2+3)^nand show they dont match by contradiction. by the way for this question, is writing the assumption worth at least 1 mark?

idk just didnt expect 243, kept with it cause time wise but i already accept a defeat when there is definite integrals i always evaluate wrong
i evaluated both of them wrong dw. first one i did what i just said, second one i did difference of two squares wrong.

really hoping e4 is lower then last year then it might be possible by the looks of these solutions
