Doing show and prove questions for complex numbers in general? (1 Viewer)

For questions like above, do we need a lot of steps to show that something is true. I mean it felt it was obvious. How should I approach this?

I suppose. There's more leniency in other questions in your working out but in "Show" or "Prove" questions you have to carry the marker through your thought process to effectively answer the question, it really depends on how lenient your teacher is on such questions so if they're fine with you skipping some steps such as showing z + z conjugate is 2Re(z) = 2cos(z) then more time saved. That's just what my teacher tells me so take it with a grain of salt - when I do excercise questions I don't bother going the full way since it becomes repetitive but in practice exams I do go the full way of showing.

A little technique here will be to draw up the Argand diagram and then find the points that serve as a mirror of themselves on the opposite sides. This will be the conjugate.

Why slack off. This is a tricky topic but I would expect the full working to be shown, you know "Practice makes habit." Do something repetitively it becomes a habit especially the idea of skipping steps.

Only skip steps if it is a 1 marker question. Look at the first word of the question use it to guide the amount of work needed.

You need to consider the amount of time you have. Can you get the exam finish in time?
