I was just wondering if I get an offer from NSB, which one of them I should pick. I currently go to a different school, but an offer from sydney boys is likely. Which school is overall better? What are their advantages + disadvantages, if any, preferably from past/current students? Thank you!

PS. Transport is not an issue for either of these schools to me

Im not a former student but NSBHS has been in top 5 consistently for the last 5 years so ranking(hsc) wise NSBHS is better but im not sure about anything else

Choose NSBHS if you want to focus more on academics . If you are looking for a more all rounded experience SB is the better choice. Although not as consistent as NSB academically, SB offers a unique sporting program which no other selective school offers. If you are not really into sport though, I probably wouldn't go SB as compulsory training sessions + saturday sport will eat up most of your time, which could better be spent focusing on your studies.

thank you guys for your great answers, i really appreciate it. I'm thinking I would go with north sydney if i get an offer because I would like to focus more time on study. Sydney boys as a school looks really good as well though.

Especially since you will be heading into year 11, pick NSB and focus on your studies

how so, I mean I dont think anyone get get into syd boys as a dumbass
i think its pretty normal for most people at selective schools like sydney boys to mess around a lot in yr 7-10, and maybe 11 and then start trying in year 12. that's what my brother did haha. it's probably less common at north sydney boys though

No, but there's a good percentage of students at SB who focus purely on sport and neglect their academics as they enter their senior years. Also there is an abundance of sport transfers in years 8-11 (trash at academics but insane at sport)

Sb English is pretty horrific. Both education and student wise.
Nsb Phys and chem education is a fair bit worse than sb.
Maths differences decently negligible, though u might want to consider only about top 60-70 of nsb is allowed to take 4u while sb is like 100+.

oh yes i remember my brother saying that sydney boys chem + physics were pretty good. wow Wow I didn't know about english though, its surprising since they force yr11's to pick ext1 english.
yeah sb takes top 120 for 4u. hmm interesting, thanks for the information!
