I haven't tried but I'd assume greatest height might be relating to it's velocity being zero??

although tbh with a pulley that seems wrong...

The amount that B goes up is the amount that A goes down, and the amount that A goes down is the amount that it falls in 1 second

ohh right but like in the answer they add also the amount a goes up cause of gravity for some reason

idt the answer is correct, it says A goes down by g/4 ms-2 when released so the answer should be

A height = 1/2 * g/4
= g/8

.: B height = 2 * g/8
= g/4 m

I might be doing something wrong though
