also you'll make friends plz don't stress, from experience societies is how you make friends bcz I never rlly made long term friends with anyone from my degree/classes, that's just me

compared to societies like idk how often u meet each other and its focussing on one specific topic not like in general

I think it depends on the degree like some degrees you see the same people for 4 years straight
like I made really great friends in class but after finals we drifted apart and never shared classes again
societies can be tricky icl, u have to participate in it outside of class to actually build friendships and it can be nerve wracking when you first join and stuff, I guess you'll experience it all for urself
