I realised that A LOT of people dont apply partially selective (p.s. For short) and only fully selective is there a reason for that? Is p.s. bad? and if not then why dont people apply? I mean whether ur selective in fully or p.s. at the end of the end ur getting into the same unis w the same degrees w the same career etc….

because fully selective schools are usually higher ranked, so i guess most people want to get into those

personally i did my hsc years at a partially selective school (although, i was never a selective student) and found it to be really good

my friends who went to partially selective schools who all left for fully selective didn't see the point of staying beyond year 10 because they merge the non-selective cohort with the selective cohort for y11-12, which objectively makes sense but it was a matter of remaining with a more academic cohort for the most important years of schooling, some of the partially selective classes according to my friends weren't any different from the non-selective classes so they didn't see it as worth it

you're right tho esp in extending this logic to apply to any kind of school, you can do well in any school you go to and get into your dream unis and careers as long as you put in the effort. i think it's just a matter of the fact that ranking-wise fully selective schools tend to do better cos it's a uniformly academic cohort all the way from year 7 and for my friends who transferred especially they would rather go to a top 20 school than a top 150

how abt parramatta, chatswood, sefton, etc.? they're top 150
I go sefton, but its basically the same as a public school. The selective stream only lasts until end of year 10 so you can't take full advantage of it in year 11 and 12(when it matters). Besides you have to put in the hard work either way no matter what school you go to. But yeah partials aren't amazing.
