yeah its good - Aerospace covers both Aeronautical and Space Engineering units. So based on what electives you take, you can lean more into a traditional Aeronautical degree, or more into Aerospace & Space engineering.

UNSW has good connections with aero companies, but the aero industry in Australia in general is pretty dead. Most of my peers (and myself) hope to seek aero careers overseas (ie: The US).

That is to say, if your are really serious about getting into the aerospace industry, UNSW is probably the best uni for an aerospace/aeronautical degree. But if you aren't willing to potentially move overseas or interstate for career opportunities, then its probably wise to choose another engineering specialty. (Don't be discouraged like this, if your really passionate you'll defo find good opportunities for Aero here)

Mechanical/Mechanical & Manufacturing are good from what I know. Good career opportunities too, judging from a recent mech internship fair I attended. Definitely a lot more local job opportunities for mech degrees too.

Generally UNSW is the best in regards to Engineering degrees in Australia. So its a safe bet coming here.

Also, don't go to USYD for aeronautical. Their faculty is literally a tiny garage next to the dumpsters (Go visit on open day I'm not wrong). Scratch that, don't go to USYD for Engineering at all/s

Imo the best approach to choosing an engineering degree is choose the most general one which can specialise into what you're interested in (in your case, mechanical) and then use internships and work experience to pivot
This kinda acts like a contingency since if you get screwed over (eg lack of opportunities, dead job market, etc), you can at least do something else in the meantime instead of stagnating

Could I do a PHD from doing this degree? Like does UNSW offer masters than phds for aero?

What about their space engineering degree? How's that?

unsw doesn't explicitly have an aerospace masters/phd but I'm certain you can specialise towards it via adjacent engineering fields through masters/phd projects and/or electives

2 is always better than 1. The way that these doubles work is that you keep the core units of your 2 degrees and they cut out a lot of the junk free electives and extend your degree by like a year or so. You pretty much get to dip your toes in 2 areas sacrificing a bit of depth, if you dont like either you can always do an internal transfer to a single degree and your units will be kept.

Not really related to the post but hopefully someone can give me some suggestions. I finished semester 1 a while back this year at USYD and my experience there is quite bad, mainly the teaching quality for most of my engineering subjects and also coding. The only good experience I had was with the mathematics faculty there even though I did not do as well as I wanted. Therefore, Is it a good idea to transfer to UNSW for mechanical engineering?

Yeahhhh no idea why you went usyd for any stem related course that wasn't maths. UNSW is far better equipped and honestly just a lot more modern with its courses. Only downside (huge downside) is that they switched to trimesters

Trimester is one of the reasons why I chose Unsw over Usyd if I am being completely honest. I’m also an international student so usyd seems more well known internationally.
