hey, i'm a high school student who's thinking about pursuing either medicine, dentistry, or pharmacy at unsw or usyd. im ranked overall 1st at my school right now, but i still get to have time to myself and time to go out with friends and go to parties and work. i was just wondering if anyone currently studying any of the mentioned courses at uni, specifically unsw or usyd could answer a couple of questions i had:

1. do you have time to go to raves and clubs and parties???? heavy on the raves haha
2. do you have time for a casual/part time job as well as tutoring??? (i want to do tutoring after but like i also wanna do another random job with that)
3. do you have time to date??? i dont wanna be 28 and not married lol
4. are there social and like extroverted people in these courses???
5. do you like studying the course?? like do you ever regret not picking something else?
6. how much should i study for the ucat especially for abstract reasoning???

i think thats all my questions right now, but if you are anyone currently studying any of those courses or has studied them could you please answer my questions?? thanks!!!!

1. I wouldn't worry about this at all haven't you seen the influencers who are med student by day and DJ by night ☠ most people in my course love partying and they go to parties, clubs, bars, concerts and stuff all the time, less during sem and more during break but it's never NO partying. having a life outside of a demanding degree is very easy, I'd say I have one and without that balance between uni and non-uni I think I'd be depressed and burnt out all the time. tldr yes there's time for raves

2. idk what the schedule is like for other uni's and med/dent courses but at usyd, dentistry is 4-5 days on face to face classes some half days some full days, timetable changes every week, weekends are off. if you can fit in a casual/part time job in that then go for it, many people in my course work while studying, I tutor on weekends and some weekday evenings but that's about all I can fit, if I was more ambitious or managed my studies better I'd work more so yeah I'd say it depends on you but it's definitely possible. I recommend working as well like it's nice to do stuff outside of uni and important too

3. yes lots of ppl dating in my course, in healthy long term relationships some are engaged or married and seem to be able to balance this with their studies just fine

4. there are many very extroverted and social people in my course, the aura is crazy. idk if the stereotype is that med students are shy and awkward some certainly are but these are careers that revolve around social interaction and most students either don't struggle with this at all, or they learn to overcome it. almost everyone in my course is incredibly nice they say hi when you walk past and contribute in class with confidence and make friends easily

5. I love it, stress and sleep deprivation aside I'm happy and can't picture myself doing anything else, my parents and friends are proud of me so that keeps me going as well. teaching is my other dream job but I tutor on weekends so I'm fulfilling that dream too. I didn't always feel this way about dentistry but I had 3 years of undergrad non-dent years to reflect on my decision and get experience in the field to get a feel of it and I eventually came to a strong conclusion 😁

6. idk I did the ucat once hardly studied and flunked but there are ucat experts on here, idk who to tag 🤓my course didn't require the ucat for entry
