im so conflicted right now but should I do maths ext 1 or drop to advanced??

basically If I drop to advanced ill have to do three sciences which is manageable for the hsc or if I do 4U I can drop bio and another subject and have 10 units for the hsc but I also don't know what I want to do after high school but definitely something in med or engineering 😭 what level; of maths should I do bruh help (note: Im pretty shit at maths)

don't do 4u if ur shit at math (personal experience) but also don't drop to advanced, just keep ext coz ext yr11 is probably harder than yr12.

Do you enjoy maths? The gap between maths advanced and maths ext to someone who doesn't like/grasp maths is really big. I wouldn't recommend it but also 3 sciences is tough. How are your marks for the sciences and maths so far?
I like maths but like not that much and right now im in the 4U class and I feel like I can't keep up.. on the other hand, my sciences are mid but I really like chemistry and physics not so much bio and my ranks are top for all of these subjects

but ext wouldnt go to my atar right? coz id be doing three sciences English and maths adv and ext and since ext counts for 1 unit, my main concern is that I feel like I can't do engineering without ext maths

Ohh I see. I do bio right now and Y11 is boring AF and only 2 modules (7&8) are med-like, not really a prereq either. I'd say drop bio, dedicate ur time to 4U (it scales REALLY well) and you'll have studyperiods and time in Y12 to decide if you want to drop maths further.

bro i thought that too but ext scaling is actually cracked not even just ext 2, even ext 1 has cracked scaling and now it's my highest contributor even tho i am by no means good 😅

You can definitely do med with adv, but not engineering. You should look up some universities' engineering courses and check the prereqs! Seeing how you're a high achiever, you should choose a set of subjects that you'll enjoy pulling yourself through because really HSC is a marathon- and of course trust your gut. If you get into year 12 and sense maths extension 2 isn't for you then drop it- it's your HSC.

Try your hardest in whatever choice you end up making and don't regret anything ;)
