hey there, i just started year12 and im currently on 14 units:

- Eng Adv
- 4U maths
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Economics
- Business Studies

I have been thinking about dropping either physics or business studies for a very long time (like since term 3 year 11) but still havent come to a conclusion and im feeling super stressed with this many subjects right now

pros of dropping physics:
- my prelim mark and 2nd year 11 mark was pretty poor, roughly 65-68% in the last two tasks.
- havent gotten my rank back, it's probably like 10-20 and my school roughly gets 1-4 ish band 6s except 1 year where there was 9
- i quit tutoring for this subject so i dont know all the content for mod6 which is what's being tested this term in 2-3 weeks (depth study)

cons of dropping physics:
- im thinking of courses like med/actuarial in uni which need high atars so im worried about how much scaling would affect my atar

pros of dropping business studies:
- low scaling

cons of dropping business:
- the content is pretty easy
- probably my best subject in yr11 based on marks

thanks, im looking forward to reading your thoughts

I would say drop physics. I think scoring high marks in business consistently is more manageable than physics, especially since you're already doing other high scaling subjects and it should boost your atar anyways. I think year 12 will be more bearable that way. But if you think you could find the motivation to work hard and have a comeback in physics, you could also just do that too. It's really up to you, you know your abilities best. My aim would be to alleviate any unnecessary pressure and if you really don't enjoy physics you should drop it. That's my thoughts 😃

Damn I’m pretty much in the same situation except I dislike business, but it is one of my best subjects, and physics is my worst 😭

drop business it scales dogshit, physics isn't that hard if you put in a proper effort over time just watch the science-ready videos in the long holidays if you really wanna get ahead.
