Hi guys, so next year I'll be accelerating 2u Math and SORII and was wondering if anyone else accelerating a subject could share their study routine to balance regular subjects with accelerated ones. Also, what resources/websties did you guys use if you studied ahead in the holidays? Thank you!

oh ur in y10 yea

what u want to do is just pretty much neglect all of your other subjects in y11 and y10 (unless you do physics, chem) or actually hard subjects, focus on your accelerated subjects and boom, thats an easy b6 for both sor2 and math advanced just dedicate all ur time on those

not like y11 is important

i agree for y10 but not y11 bc it destroys your confidence if you suck at smth in y11 bc you didnt study it properly and then have to do it in y12.

because hsc going to be in term 1 of year 12 for @docmcstuffins i would suggest they stay on top of y11 subjects as well because there is only so much work you can put towards sor2 and maths advanced, for most people band 6 is achievable without insane commmittments. and then also do decent in y11 so you're not starting from scratch in y12 bc you have to consider the possibility the accelerated subject might go badly for them

for 2u specifically i would suggest keeping up to date with homework and before y12 begins for the accelerated subject recap all prelim content very briefly bc it can be asked in the hsc and sometimes in trials. seek out textbook chapter reviews and question banks. as trials approaches grind out past papers in timed conditions and then go on to challenge yourself to finish them like 30 ish minutes early (it is doable) so you have time to redo questions and check thoroughly where necessary.

I did Ancient History accelerated so I'm guessing this will apply more to SOR II than maths advanced, but I thought I'd pop in anyway.

What really helped for me was making sure I was up to date on all my notes. Having all those syllabus dot points out of the way already while everyone was rushing to cover them later really helped time-management wise.

For making my notes (idk how similar of a format SOR II is but thought I'd share anyway), I organised them under syllabus dot points, and then developed a list of like 10-15 good notes from other students (found on sites like BoS, ATAR Notes, etc), and then I'd create notes from all of those other student notes. So essentially I'd be combining 10-15 other people's notes, plus my notes from class, to have a full set of HSC notes. Then I'd make flashcards on those, memorise them, and do some practise questions specific to syllabus dot points.

Also, thinking about how you're going to memorise content for exams and starting to act upon it is useful too. This is something I wish I did - as I like to learn by flashcards, I wish I'd also made all of my flashcards for that core module in the summer holidays, instead of having to do it later on with trials fast approaching.

Good luck!!
