idk if the @Socialism fans will believe this but this is the first thread i've started since Socialism's Thread all the way back at the start of feb!
I'm evaluating my options right now and i'm looking for something I might actually enjoy...
This degree has the promise of something i'd find fun, but i'm not sure if it has the guarantee of a job that something like a Bachelor of Software Engineering offers. i'm not super keen on the second one because although i know there's good money there i'm not sure if i could handle working the rest of my life in that field.

Alternatively, what other history (or i guess english) focused degrees are there?
also, what kind of jobs can you even get in those fields?

ik a big option would be to do this as a double degree with education then teach history or do a pdh to be a professor at uni/researcher

tbh i dont think there are that many options, ik some work at museums but i think ur just best off doing a double if u want to major in history

I would not recommend doing arts ( history) if you don’t want to be teacher. Every person I know who’s taken that degree has become a teacher. You could try to enter other fields with that degree but you might as well do a different degree then. It sucks bc history is interesting, but there just isn’t enough jobs relating to research for it. My own history teacher wanted to become a historical investigator/ an academic 😭 ( who failed trying)

I don‘t know what job to recommend u though bc most humanities jobs r cooked- ig u can try psychology

there is literally no other use for degree of arts in history unless u wanna become a secondary teacher (which is what i want to become) because its done in a double degree with bachelor of teaching 💔

look like down the path of becoming a professor or archaeologist which is more extensive/more time

hrmmm surely there must be someone with a more positive opinion
(🥀🥀😭🥀🥀)
maybe get a rough idea of what other careers interest you/ are you more into careers abt humanities or science, and also remember that you might have a large shift in your desired degree between now and when you can accept uni offers, so aiming for a higher ATAR will open up more options (don't let this pressure you!! also I'm sure you'll do great 👍 ) and then since you don't have any more exams after the end of HSC you can have a proper think about career choices before and after you receive your ATAR while deciding on the degree you're going to do (this is my opinion, does not mean it is good advice)

Hopefully this is a positive and motivational opinion for you, bc this stuff actually takes a lot of effort to write 💀 (for me at least)
