To show that the uni supports students from LGBT groups, and that they are welcome on campus + don't have to hide themselves. Also, it's pretty, adding aesthetic value. Rainbows are pretty in general icl.

bright colour = happy feeling (supposedly). unsw campus is kinda gloomy so it could be there to cheer people up. you don't have to associate the staircase to the LGBTQ community, art is subjective anyways

except just like how everyone associates the swastika with nazism, these are very specific intentional patterns. it's not just the rainbow, it's the lgbtq+ flag

I agree, and imagine hijabis walking on it I’m taking the longest route every day just to avoid that.

My friends and I walked on them once during a bio excursion, and the amount of stares we got was insane.
People literally stopped to stare. It was that bad. Can’t risk that again.

Like sure, we support them, but taking it this far is just insane.

The amount of stairs they have is crazy, like you can go from 100kg to 50 in a week. That level.
