this is why they need to shut down tutoring centres for good/tax them a considerable amount that only very few can afford it.

Yes - I believe if you are supported in areas of Maths that you are finding challenging now, you will be able to grasp these concepts and be ahead of your syllabus for your year. You will gain confidence and lead with knowing you can accomplish many areas of Maths you have found challenging to date. This will have a compound effect for your years to come in learning Maths.

However, not all tutors are gifted to teach. While they may have outstanding grades or ATAR's - these grades do not reflect their teaching ability. Since you are entering a non regulated arena, you need to be discerning. You must feel comfortable and feel at ease in their presence where they are catering to your learning abilities. My son did not like his Maths/English tutor for he was always late and rushed through the topics as he had to be at the next appointment to recover from him being late. It's a feeling - you will know what is right for you - you will feel at ease.

My son did thrive in one-one tutoring where zoom meetings, he ended up gaming on the side with the screen off. Also, don't go by the tutor's pricing. If someone is charging $120 p/hr it does not equate to them giving you outstanding results because you may not like their style of teaching or they may overcomplicate the material. I recommend at your age, you start with a Maths tutor who has been through your school system. They will know the style of teaching at your school, the teachers expectations and how they mark as well as have resources to give you from past papers. Furthermore, the tutor should be highly intuitive and be able to 'read' you and know how best to adapt their teaching style to serve your style of learning.

Wishing you all the very best.
