Tutoring is the biggest scam in education, especially in year 10

Way too expensive, u dont need tutoring, just put in the work
You don't "need" it to succeed, but it gives you advantages. Putting in the work vs putting in the work with the help of someone who's experienced and can actively help and guide you. Which one seems better? Seems pretty obvious to me lol

I think its quite clear you just haven't thought this through at all lol. How can you speak on behalf of everybody and say whether their tutoring was worth it or not? Does it not depend on the student's themselves and their skill levels and their goals? I would think this is quite an obvious fact to consider

That's also why generalising tutoring to only be worth it for medicine is just quite silly and illogical. Someone who is on track to get an 85 ATAR but needs a 90 ATAR for their dream course which isn't medicine would absolutely benefit and likely think the financial investment from tutoring is worth it. Besides, even if their ATAR is predicted to be above their dream course, it doesn't hurt to increase your ATAR to expand your opportunities for what you can study if you ever change your mind in the future for an otherwise small financial investment in comparison. I find it more funny however that you think medicine is the only high ATAR course out there lol. Law, dentistry, engineering?

Yes but its much harder to get into medicine (and related degrees) than law or engineering whether you have the atar or not. Maybe it does depend on everyone but id personally say it isnt worth it, unless maybe in year 12 and ur really struggling with a subject, but at the end of the day people can do what they want, this is just my opinion. Theres also many ways to get into a course without the required atar, But fair enough

just apply to Cambridge university and do their entrance tests instead of doing a stupid entrance test for some stupid little academy.

I'm not sure I quite see the relevance. Why bring up non-ATAR entry requirements for courses like medicine when we were talking about whether tutoring was helpful to get higher ATAR's for courses like medicine? It's not related at all. It's perfectly fine for you to say its not worth it, but I'm sure most people would say that it was worth it for them.

You don't even need to be struggling with a subject to get a tutor, you could be doing decent in a subject but want to excel in it for higher ATAR's or for other personal goals. I wasn't struggling with my subjects but I went tutoring anyway and got high band 6's which allowed me to get into my current course. Again, you seem to miss the point that it depends on the student's current skill levels and their goals. Generalising it to "maybe its worth it if theyre struggling" is just silly.

You can get into courses through non-ATAR means, but that usually takes more time and require significantly more effort after high school. Why go through that hassle when you can just get a higher ATAR for now and be safe with your options for the future?

@everyone listen to @coolcat6778 advice, instead of WORRYING ABOUT a stupid entry test that doesnt even measure academic merit, for a stupid so called selective high school or even worse a tutoring, focus on ur current high school building portfolios and ATAR to apply to prestigious unis wherever u wanna go (im not glazing, i swear, this is real advice tho icl. i realised after getting into tech that selective high schools r still HIGH SCHOOLS and have nonsense, sure they HELP with the environment but at the end of the day it matters what YOU do)

these losers seem to think James Ruse gaurantees their success, even though graduating from princeton holds way more merit than a school that chose people from a stupid little exam done in primary school
