i got my maths results back recently and i made so many silly mistakes/didn’t recognise simple concepts

i made sure i had 8 hours of sleep, i wasn’t that nervous before or during the test, did lots of practice questions and i usually do well for maths so i don’t know what wrong

i want the most unhinged way to train myself to not make silly mistakes cus at this rate i’m not even gonna teach my atar estimate

first things first relax. take a deep breath. i was in your stance exactly last year and By the Grace of Jesus what I did was i went through more past questions and plotted out where i went wrong. what topics i had issues with and where i made the silly mistakes. plotting everything out made it so much easier and i was able to recollect how to solve diff types of questions without messing up. this is also coming from someone who messed up like 7 questions in the maths adv hsc last year (like adding one step to a question worth 4 marks )and By the Grace of Jesus got a raw mark of 82. so you got this. just remember, writing and saying it to yourself allows you to remember more efficiently :p

this is not to do with ur math knowledge or knowledge gaps, I'd say from previous experiences and ur previous streak of good results this is due to ur lack of exam prep. Ie, U need to simulate exam conditions, might want to go extreme like dressing up in uniform and using exam booklets to do past papers under strict exam conditions. If its genuinely due to knowledge gaps, ig ur gonna have to comb through ur foundations and gain more indepth knowledge and practice through textbook or past papers

I know you know your Maths. The pressure is enormous for an ATAR. The last thing you must do now is create an IDENTITY that says you are NOT good at Maths. Also, without even realising it, we take on other people's beliefs or energetic frequencies of their lack of ability. Perhaps others were very nervous before this test. It puts a neg charge into your sub-conscious mind.

While you can recognise your lack of technical ability and readjust yourself, I also invite you to KEEP in the KNOWING that this test does not DEFINE your END result you are wishing to have! If you allow your frustration or disappointment of this test to now be your new FREQUENCY then this will impact your Maths grade moving forward and other then your expertise in other subjects. In other words - that lack or doubtful frequency will invite more events, situations to occur of that nature.

I invite you to redefine your definition of the 'wrongness' of this. BE in the END result as if what you desire is ALREADY achieved moving forward. So every time you open up your books or do a past paper or even your computer - BE in the IDENTITY of a TOP HIGH achiever. When you go to sleep at night - imagine the END RESULT of this last test (revise that you did really well) - your subconscious mind can't tell the difference and then do this method for the next test and even your final mark - create a small frame - like your best friend congratulating you! This will take the emotional charge that is now sitting in your sub-conscious mind. This will enable you to EMBODY this IDENTITY OF A HIGH ACHIEVER. Everything happens internally before it happens externally. You got this!! I believe in you!! You are right on track !!

This is genuinely excellent advice for life. An assumed state of mind, ie a lack of confidence, outputs in practice poor results in mathematical ability. So let your assumed state of mind be one of growth and desire, desire to change, to win. Then you’ll see everything flip.
This is applicable to many scenarios in life.
Recognised detachment - purposely detach yourself from what may be present in your mind and deviate from it to harness a new path of growth.

The actual fact is, silly mistakes arise from you going on autopilot. For a second you plug something into your calculator casually, shit, 9 instead of a 7, that’s one mark off.
so what it really means is to train your ability to remain intensely focused with your mind in constant working operation, completely present in the task at hand for extended periods of time. This reminds me of (just as an example) when I got 98.5/100 on my maths adv trial - with only half a mark of silly mistakes. One second I got comfortable , simply solving for x in a trig question, and I lost it all. Everything slipped. See the rigour you need to achieve to be the best- think of it not only as solving problems, but being alive and living within them, living within that sheet of paper which occupies it. Learn to be entirely present. That’s what will eliminate all silly mistakes. Practice past papers. Learn ahead. Get to the yearly/ trial exams early.
I remember when I was studying my mind would be in a constant internal monologue.
‘sub that in- does that look right?- yes, perfect that’s right , that’s correct’
This was incessant.
And- I would scan with the utmost precision BETWEEN lines of working, making sure they are concordant. You need to be razor sharp, in the mindset constantly that you EXPECT to make mistakes, so FIND them.

And lastly, if you have time at the end of the test, you MUST assume you made silly errors. Go through each line of working and scrutinise. Literally, pick it apart, squint your eyes and question.
that’s how it’s done . One number can change everything. A 7 and a 9 could be the difference between 1st and 2nd in the state.

it’s hard. It really is. But it’s practicable.
Good luck

I appreciate our souls aligning! Thank you! You are right - this information is useable in every aspect of your life! My son navigated HSC with this formulae - and he did himself super proud through matching his INTERNAL state to the RESULT he wanted on the external! You are destined for enormous success!!
