Cultivated is the term a linguist would use so yeah. I'm jealous, as a boy from the cultural melting pot of western sydney there is one bloke which could be said to live in the same region who pronounces his down/sound/round/bound vowels and his answer/chance/advance and everyone else thinks he must be english.
lol what? Downer was a solid performer after a while yes. But when Rudd moved into FA, he was ground to a halt and stalemate followed. I cant really judge Downer though. The establishment SA accent +feigned moral outrage turns me way off - same with pyne
I think the article suggested he settled down the ALP backbenches ahead of the partyroom meeting and shut the coalition up during that particular question time whereby Rudd got himself in a bit of muddle. I don't think it surprises anyone that the coalition came back for more next time. But seriously from your memory, I didn't watch much Qtime during the Howard government i was too young, did Downer used to play?
Actually I agree Albo performed very strongly today. Garrett showed up quite well on Tv a tleast.
And yeah the opposition failed to get any "cut through" for sure. Bishop and Ruddock seemed to do ok with the self righteous stuff but it could only go so far. Malcolm looked tired and uninterested whilst Pyne reminded me of a footballer whose team is getting thrashed to he just starts throwing wild crazy passes and hoping it will somehow turn out ok. Tell me does my friend ever look up? When I see him on TV he is always buried in some notes and looks as though he'd rather be in his office doing real work, he's like the anti-downer.
I meant in the sense that at that age you don't have the capacity to objectively reflect on self, appreciate inner, quiet, personal time, it'd probably be more worthwhile now.
