Do we HAVE to have a mentor?

Thanks ^_^ I've fixed it. Sorry for the brutal *typo* ... I was in a rush. Meh. That's no excuse though, huh? :P Not to be trolling or anything, but the common/standard/correct practice is to use hyphen not apostrophe in "nazi-ing" ... at least most of the time anyway =) Apostrophes are only...

Do we HAVE to have a mentor?

Generally speaking, you don't really *need* to. If you have a private tutor for english already, I would suggest asking him/her to read over your work once every 2 weeks or something to give you feedback. Like a few people have already mentioned, you should get as many people to read your work...

What's so great about USYD law?

If you *can* transfer, I think you should =) I know that if you want to transfer to UNSW law, there's an entry pathway where you do a year of commerce and if you get a high credit average/distinction and above, along with a 97+ ATAR, you can transfer (but the requirements vary from year to year...

    Good English tutoring Centres? Suggestions?

Matrix education is good or so I've heard... (can't speak from personal experience). Generally though, private tutors are the best way to go for english because you find out about other people's views on a particular text through your classmates when you have class discussions ... (that's what...

Review, Review REVIEW (on maths tutoring)!

There is Alpha Omega ... I went to the Burwood branch for ~ 3 months. The price is $50 for 2 hours [I think]. There's this teacher there named Steven, his pace is good and his teaching style... how do I put it, really "motivational". He always used to reinforce why the HSC is so important and...

    Questions about UMAT and USYD

The OP mentioned Speech Pathology, so I'm having a little difficulty deciphering why/how this is relevant =) 1. Anyway, about USYD -- You don't need UMAT for courses like speech pathology or physio at USYD. The UMAT is usually required for *some* (like you've mentioned, generally med or...

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Is there any use bringing a laptop to uni? Yes, I think it'd be very useful for taking down notes in case you have messy handwriting and type faster than you do writing by hand (like myself). I think those mini laptops/notebooks people seem to have these days seem pretty convenient. They'd...

    What to combine law with?

From the impression I've been given by uni friends who do law: Arts/Law = USYD Comm/LAW = UNSW I'll most *probably* be commencing comm/law @UNSW myself in 2012 (I've deferred entry for a year). Personally, I think Comm/law gives you a lot of scope in terms of career prospects ... I don't know...

    Prelim English Extension 1 worries

wow for me it's genuinely not that bludgy. our assessments are always quite weighty (currently there's one that contributes to a hefty 50% of our final assessment) i find it quite stressful actually but i guess most people think otherwise. not sure if i'm dropping it yet..

I did 'olympiad training' for the bio and chem but our tutor was quite conceited and I got really put off. So I quit after like week 3.
