  • I've been hearing of (and know a few) aussies who have Oxford offers - how exciting!
Though does your friend know that in the US, medicine isn't an undergrad degree? She'll be doing a liberal arts degree (presumably B.S - bachelor of science) and I guess she might take a pre-med track, or major in biochemistry.

Thanks for your well wishing and fingers crossed! :D
All the best to you!!! xxxx
Hi Anna - from an IB friend who's applying this year? ;)

No, its not true - well, its a mere correction on semantics. Colleges regard predicted marks with AS MUCH credence as the actual marks. The same - not more, but not less.

Just as Sydney Uni shortlists Merit Scholarships based on predicted ATARs (and essays), overseas colleges make admissions decisions based on predicted results and grades (IB, even reports) and the essays in the applications package.

    Hope that helped clarify!

Annaaaa! Hi hi hi hi hi hi hi XD

A few people have mentioned that there's a "resource" section here on BoS, where students can upload their work for viewing and use by others.

Can you tell me where to find this "resource section"? Do I need to be a "Premium Member"?
My parents are Bangladeshi, so I look Indian lol. I'm quite tall but embarisingly I still look like I'm in year 9 or 10.

Never really been asked that type of question lol.
you probably arent the best person ask but probably one of the more knowledgeable people.. would an atar of 83.2 with 5 bonus points get a person into engineering at unsw?
Commerce/ Engineering at UNSW. Not sure about the Major for Commerce yet but I'll be doing Civil for the Engineering bit.
Hey! new friend, thought I would add you since I read somewhere you're doing engineering at UNSW.
    Anna!
Sorry I took so long to properly thank you for your reading insight - you were so helpful, and definitely provided alot of guidance and helped me refine the essay so much! Merci, Merci beaucoup! I've been rather neglectful in my communications lately because the application deadlines for my universities were 1st January (so its been about a week of nervous reading and re-reading, checking for typos, etc) and I've been holed up in my room.

Am sending you a long, fuzzy email as we speak - and I just want to say again, thank you! You really are the best, and I plove you very much. :guitar:

    ahaha okay.
for some reason, you give rep so easily :D
I, on the other hand, have to keep spreading reputation before giving it to the same person again :(

and oh yeah, I'll be kicking ass in the HSC for sure !!!! muhahahah
