+1 for David Eddings. That man is wonderful. 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold is spantabulous. But 'The Almost Moon' is terrible. Don't get it. 'Life of Pi' by Yann Martel if you haven't already read it. [offtopic: I want a $100 Dymocks voucher :P]

Twilight [the first book] and Eclipse are quite good. New Moon and Breaking Dawn are awful. New Moon, especially.
