    Usyd's timetables are out

http://i.imgur.com/LQdUvVd.png Might turn up to MATH1002 at 8am on Monday and Tuesday. Haven't done any engineering since semester 1 2009.

    GPA boosting subject...

You do mostly language study, but you also share weekly classes with French Reading 1. I did French Reading 1 so I'm not sure how it is on the other end, but everybody had an exam on French history and culture, as well as having to write a mini-essay on a chosen piece of French literature. I had...

    GPA boosting subject...

I've done Senior Intermediate French, and unfortunately they will be teaching you how to write essays in French as well as discussing cultural and political issues.

    GPA boosting subject...

LNGS1001 sounds perfect for you. Phonetics, Phonology, Syntax and Morphology. No essays and an easy D+ if you have a technical mind.

Transferring out of a course in first year

I wouldn't worry, it's not that hard if you don't try to fail. If you want to do well, you will.

    Biggest pickle of my life

UNSW are adopting a more international model for the structure of their engineering degrees. That means changing from a four year undergraduate degree to three years of undergraduate study plus a two year masters degree. USYD still has the traditional four year degree. The USA has a four...

    Need help with engineering courses

Exactly the same, except that construction management involves you taking an additional subject to specialise.

    O Week 2013 - Sydney University

I guess this is an opportune time to let people know that you only need an access card to be an official member of clubs and get discounts. I've spent two years without a card and still turned up to events, just without the benefits of free pizza and drinks. The clubs have been nice in my...

    O Week 2013 - Sydney University

And it was $100 in 2009. I guess I'll be an unofficial member of societies again this year.

We still have to buy access cards? Where is the money from my SSA fee going?

Some questions regarding UoS and majors

I don't think you're allowed to overload in first year, so that might not be an option. The difficulty of language units depends on your interest and ability in learning languages. For me they were easy high distinctions, whereas others had much more difficulty.

    prerequisites waived based on majors?

A major is generally only 36 senior credit points. Two majors means 72 credits out of the 144 total. That leaves 72 for anything else you want to do, whether it be junior subjects, honours pre-requisites, or electives. To me it seems like you're going to have to do electives regardless, so you...

    prerequisites waived based on majors?

I'm assuming you're the same person from Whirlpool? I'm not sure exactly what subjects you've planned out for the next three years, but even with a double major you will still have at least four subjects remaining as electives. Surely it would be simpler to find some first years subjects to...

Doing maths in a Sci/Engineering double degree?

You only do one set of first year maths units. As you're doing engineering, you'll have to do the normal (MATH100*) level units and they will also fulfill the requirements of your science degree.

    B Sc / B A timetabling

Just wait until next year and do one arts unit for now.

    Scaling and Failing.

It may depend on the faculty, but as far as I know you'll never get scaled down to a fail.
