Movies that Make you Cry :'(

My neighbour totoro, and where the wild things are. I think I may have some kind of thing for big cuddly monsters

CSSA let us off easy this year.

not so with the humanities, they always pick the most obscure questions for the ancient history exam and I won't even start about religion.

How important is it to have quotes?

a lot of the things you are arguing come from the sources. My teacher says you need to use at least one source a paragraph (given the paragraph is more than 100 words) to get a band six essay. Use ancient sources to tell what you are arguing, e.g. thucydides stated that the aims of the league...

    Greek world 500-440 B.C

have you seen more than 2 past papers? Having done it before does not mean that they won't do it again. They asked about themistocles every other year for six years and my teacher says that there is always a high chance of him being in there bacause the people who write the questions love asking...

    ancient his EXAM PREDICTIONS

there tend to be five questions that get cycled through a lot, and my teacher says tht odds are we will get one of these. 1 explain/assess the contribution of themistocles (very likely) 2 explain the reasons for greeks victory in the second persian war (this was last year, dont bet on it) 3...

How many calculators are we allowed to take in?

sometimes you can get slightly out of date casio board-approved calculators at the reject shop for 2 dollars (I got a 2008 one) they are exactly the same as the one in the picture. If not, you can always scab a spare off somebody in year 11.

How many calculators are we allowed to take in?

I don't think that it matters so long as they're all board approved calculators.

Should i move to adv english or stay in standard?

If you like it and think that you're doing well then I think you should stay where you are. The cohort may not be as sophisticated as advanced but Ifound that the standard modules are much easier to work with and the texts are easier to understand and work with.

ITT: People who actually liked english

I do standard but I liked english. Our teacher was a bit strict (and very irritating) but she was a good teacher and thanks to that I actually managed to do well in this subject (I flunked out in year ten) and I got essay skills that crossed over into my other subjects. The class was good...

who else here flew by the seats of their pants?

and made up the creative on the spot. I'm a pretty creative person so I think I came up with something that was pretty good, I had to scrap my prepared one because it was more about relationships than places. My creative was about a nine year old girl who moved to Australia from england and...

nope, I was too busy freaking out about how the heck I was suposed to link strictly ballroom to places

How messy is your handwriting allowed to get in english?

when I was in year 11 my handwriting was so bad that I only got 4 marks for my creative writing. When I typed it up my teacher remarked it for me and I got ten marks. I found that spacing out the letters and trying to lift your hand off the page after each word (as apposed to just dragging it)...

Why is everyone so worried about the band 6 cut-off raw marks?

Its about satisfaction. If you get a band six you feel vindicated no matter what your overall atar is, I know I will be if I get one (If things keep on going the way they are I might even get three! ) and while your atar is very important, employers seem to be much more impressed if they...

How long does it take you?

there is way to much time for bio. In trials I finished the paper in two hours so I went through the whole thing again, trying to improve all my answers and after that I still had half an hour to burn. Senior science is even worse.

    HSC Markers

the markers will want to give you marks, but they're not allowed to give them out cheaply. Some markers are tougher than others, but I'm pretty sure that the papers will pass through a rediculous amount of hands before the mark is finalised

    Exam predictions

I think they check when they put all the sections together again or register the choices on the computer database, that way its easy to see who doubles up.

    Exam predictions

any guesses about the studies of religion paper? how about ancient history? I recon that the 25 marker for greek world is going to be about the changing relationships of the league and/or themistocles contribution. I've also got a feeling that the pericles 15 mark question is going to be about...
