    Which universities offer....

Provisional basically means that you have to do a degree first of varying lengths (I think UQ makes it only 2 years instead of a typical 3 year degree). As long as you maintain a certain GPA (5.0 or credit in the case of UQ - I'm not sure about USyd as I've heard distinction from some sources...

Was the 2007 HSC exam easier than last years and most other years?

People have their own strengths/weaknesses so it's hard to generalise and say the whole exam was easier or harder. e.g. if someone sucks at calculus and there are a lot of calculus questions in the exam, they'll interpret the test as having been harder than a year with less calculus (even though...

QTAC January offers... here they come

Nah it's fine, I did pretty well in my UMAT so I might not be the best indicator of cutoff (I got 199 raw made up of 70/54/75). The lowest I've seen to get an offer was 176.

QTAC January offers... here they come

Perhaps your application hasn't been considered yet because you're an international applicant Pommy babe? (or so I assume by the fact that you've done A levels and your location is London) I'm not sure why they wouldn't have because of that...but just an attempt at an explanation...

Is it worth waiting for 2nd, 3rd, final round offers?

I *think* that you're able to accept your 3rd/4th preference and then decline it upon receiving (possibly) a higher preference offer. Your acceptance shouldn't affect you being offered a higher preference. Don't hold me to this anyone...because I'm not entirely sure...

QTAC January offers... here they come

MBBS Provisional Entry at UQ for the win! But I still have my fingers crossed for everywhere else so I hope I can knock it back to make someone else's day =)

    What are my chances?

Yeah, the reason I say that I agree with Bacilli "to an extent" is that it depends on what specialty you'd like to do. As a GP you may be forced to the fringes of metro areas or into rural areas but as far as the majority of specialties go, the guy at UNSW Info day was saying how rural centres...

    What are my chances?

Why so? (I sort of agree with you to an extent though)

    UNSW or USYD for Medicine?

Haha no worries, it's nice to know someone else is actually looking in on the conversation - I thought this thread had descended in to the "TL;DR" region. Of course there are so many reasons you could think of for wanting to do med - all of them valid - but there has to be a reason why that...

    UNSW or USYD for Medicine?

Disclaimer: This post, by its end, will have descended into super-cliché so don't read the last 2 paragraphs if you don't want to hear it I think from what seems to have been said in posts following my original post that you definitely seem to have a sort of intrinsic desire to pursue...

    What are my chances?

Haha I guess I'm a bit late jumping into this thread considering change of preference closed and all but if you DID keep UNSW Med then you definitely have a good shot. With that UMAT/UAI combo you only really need an average-ish interview to get in I reckon. Your combo puts you like above...

So 2007 was the smartest, wat does this mean to course cut offs?

Summary of this whole thread: Us being "smarter" will pretty much do nothing to course cut offs since UAI is a RANK not a MARK. Also those extra 1500 uni applicants *likely* aren't those with the higher UAIs but those with those on the lower end of the spectrum and just giving it a shot...

    which uni is 'best'?

I reckon if you only want to work intrastate or within a local area around where you graduate then any uni is OK really. However if you want to go interstate or overseas, you can't go past a Go8 uni. If you don't go to one then *generally speaking* your chances are....*no comment*...

    UNSW or USYD for Medicine?

Personally I would NEVER go to USyd for Med. 1. I knew I never stood a chance of 99.95 (and I didn't get it of course) 2. Even if I DID get 99.95+ then I wouldn't want to go there because of the pressure of maintaining a D average (although I've heard murmurings that it's only C). Even if...

    2008 Hsc Exam Dates?

You find out the timetable May 1st http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/events/pdf_doc/event-timetable-hsc-2008.pdf And yes, having 2 exams on the same day would be uber crappy but I reckon having exams 3 days in a row would also suck as it was for people who did MX1/MX2 and Bio last year...

    Cricket Season 2007/2008

I think I heard Ponting make some comments to some reporters about how they should forget about any umpiring blunders since it was overshadowing what was an otherwise great game. What a tool - if he was on the other side of the coin I'm not so sure he'd be so quick to blow it off. I used to...

    UMAT help required!!!

Re: Umat Don't know what suraci is but definitely no sudoku. S3 is more about spotting and recognising patterns as opposed to those types of number games.
