    apple laptop for engineering

Anything that can't be run on mac can be run through boot camp. Is there any reason you need a mac? Because you might as well just get a windows laptop/netbook.

    transferring from UTS to UNSW/USYD

Well, see how you like engineering at UTS for your first year. Keep your grades decent, and if you still want to change then you'll have no problems.

    Uni Course Cutoff release date?

The cutoff is determined by the lowest UAI/ATAR given an offer for the course. Obviously they don't know that until they release the offers, so they show you last year's instead.

    transferring from UTS to UNSW/USYD

Well you already make the cutoff for both USYD and UNSW, so why don't you just make them your first preferences?

    transferring from UTS to UNSW/USYD

It depends. If you find it easy going through UAC, then yes. You just have to hope that your first year subjects will be counted at the new university. I'm actually hoping for a transfer from USYD to UTS civil engineering, if I remember I'll post how it goes.

    transferring from UTS to UNSW/USYD

Well, if you have the UAI/ATAR and your uni grades are high enough, it's certainly possible.

B Engineering (Civil - Project Engineering & Management)

Well, they give you free beer, but I wasn't too fond of the course. I'm hoping for a transfer to UTS civil engineering for next year.

help!llooking for alternative entry for a very low atar

There was the FEAS alternative entry to UNSW engineering, but it's too late for that now. Best idea is add some backup unis to your preferences that have a lower ATAR requirement. Get good marks throughout the year and apply for a transfer next year. Good luck :)

    What gpu?

What are you going to use your PC for? If it's mainly gaming, then you could probably drop your CPU down to an i5, drop down to 4GB RAM and get a better GPU. I'd go for a Radeon 5870 or GTX295.

HELP!!! UWS physio / USYD physio

Do you have to do physiotherapy? What about something like Exercise Physiology at UNSW? The cutoff is only around 83/84, 4 years long and it's linked with the faculty of medicine and medical science.

How good is a GPA of 5?

Try looking at the transfer sticky topics. One of them has an attachment containing a table to convert GPA to UAI. Then just compare that UAI to the course cutoffs.

    4unit and engineering

I didn't do 4unit at school, but for first year maths we did a lot of calculus, complex numbers and linear algebra. Take a look at the website for the university you intend to study at, and check what maths subjects they do. There should be an outline of the topics covered. For engineering...

    BE/BA: How does it work?

No worries. Funnily enough though, at UNSW they get you to choose all your subjects on your own online. After getting my late round offer for USYD, my advisor said "heh, engo/arts student eh? we don't get many of those".

    BE/BA: How does it work?

Don't worry dude. When you go to enrol, you should have an advisor who'll help you pick all your subjects.

    Mature Age Students :)

As long as you don't compare me to your children (or grandchildren), I don't mind who you are. I have an older lady in one of my classes and she always tells me how much I remind her of her youngest son.

    BE/BA: How does it work?

The electrical engineering site is much easier to see the program details. I'm enrolled in mechatronic engineering and arts for this year, and I'm studying modern greek for my arts component. I'm just doing 3 engg 1 arts subject per semester, and then I study most of and complete the arts in...

    Student Athletes.

With athletics, I've come to learn that you should never EVER trust someone when they tell you their time. It only counts if it's a result from an official competition.

    Course Preferences

Don't worry you can change them as much as you want until like 2 weeks before they're released. After that though, you're locked in unless you want to wait for another round.
