    Making friends

tomodachi, relax. While CSE does have a lot of antisocial basement-dwellers and is very gender imbalanced, there is an extremely large social circle (with a ratio of girls that is significantly higher). Of course, the literal basement that is the student lounge in K17 doesn't help with the...

    MATH1131/MATH1141 Lecturers

As others have said, the following are highly recommended: PG Brown IR Doust WK Schief

    O-week UNSW

The difference between O-week and open/info days is their context. While open/info days are for finding out information about the uni so you may choose whether you want to make it a preference, O-week is very much a sort of "welcome to the university". Most of the student societies and clubs...

    Exchange student

Have you tried also looking at the courses offered by the Civil Engineering school? The courses are available under the CVEN course codes. You can also look at MMAN and MECH courses (though I assume you already have). Alternatively, you can try sending an email to the Civil Engineering school...

How To Get UNSW Approved Sticker for Calclulator?

As the others have answered, you can take it to pretty much any school. As for "whether you actually need it" - the answer is definitely. They are generally checked both before entering the examination room, as well as just prior to or just after beginning the exam.

2012 Semester 2 UNSW Chatter Thread

My apologies that this is a bit of a late response, but I just wanted to make a couple of points clear. Arc is not only not a business (it is a non-profit), but completely separate to the uni. The SSAF goes directly to UNSW's pocket, and UNSW distributes the money as they wish. In previous...

    UNSW Social Life?

Wasn't planning it, showed the first example on Rectangles. Sheesh you guys are needlessly unforgiving.

    UNSW Social Life?

Yes, precisely. Unfortunately, doing BMA/BSci will mean having to go between campuses a fair bit. I'm not sure how often, or how willing you will be to do that. Contact hours will still be relatively high due to CompSci but I'd say you'd have at worst around 20 hours a week. An example...

    UNSW Social Life?

There's a reason the Arc council picks it as the best event out of every single event run by any society on campus ;)

    UNSW Social Life?

If you're planning on doing Comp Sci here, don't worry, the social life is awesome. We have the most active constituent student society and the best First-year camp on campus (as well as being the best club event second only the Photography Club's Scavenger Hunt). Comp Sci is, somewhat...

    Engineering Mathematics?

While the content will be taught at a much faster pace than what you may be used to at high school, remember that the assumed knowledge is only that of 3U. As long as you don't slack off, you will be fine. If you work hard, you can very easily get good grades. As others have said, there is...

    Thoughts on UNSW open day?

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came, it was really fun talking to you guys about the uni! :) I hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did! (Except for the stupid wind...)

UNSW vs USyd in computer science

(Note that I can confirm that was indeed Mr. Buckland posting, overheard him talking about this very post today (info day)) Have you perhaps considered the non-academic advantages of each uni as well? Surely, if you are having such trouble picking between both universities then you must think...

    Adfa

I am not sure if it is possible to do this, so I won't comment. Instead, I will suggest this, which may be better suited to your current life (being a university, not ADFA, student): ADF Sponsored Undergraduate [/LIST]

    timetable help *confused*

The red ENGG1000 is fine, because on some weeks you only have ENGG1000 from 2-4, and some weeks from 2-5. The problem is with COMP1911 Tute-lab, because it clashes with your ENGG1000 on some weeks. To change classes, go into myUNSW, then to your profile, then vary enrolment, then update...

    COMP1911 vs COMP1917

You can watch some of the COMP1917 lectures on Youtube, if that might help to show you how hard it is.

    Enrolment HELP!!!!!!!!!!

See here to choose your course. For your course which I assumed is Mechanical Engineering, see this. To choose your science courses use the handbook, which has a link to science majors. You are only enrolling for semester 1.

    Time Table help?

Do not worry, I was confused at first too. As for your question, you can change your classes to suit you - in myUNSW just go to My Student Profile, then Vary Enrolment, then Update Enrolment. I don't remember what the screen looks like from there, but basically if you want to change a course's...

    Stuck!!!!! Enrolling!!!!

Nope, you will enroll in S2 sometime between "mid May" and July 25. https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/academiclife/enrolment/EnrolmentDates.html#Semester22010

    Stuck!!!!! Enrolling!!!!

I believe it just asks if you expect to graduate after one semester, although I am not sure. I chose no for that question.
