How do u do the rotational speed of the space station question. I got 51 or something. Quite sure its wrong though Edit. Is it 102
  5. S

    Multiple Choice

Quite sure it is constant torque since plane of coil is always parallel to the magnetic field. It cannot be a since the torque doesnt change direction

    Chemistry paper & Option

Thats exactly what i wrote :) You should be fine if you wrote NaOH. Did you write the overall equation?

Re: Your Inudstrial Chem answers for the soap question i wrote: Step 1: The surfactant ion of the soap reorientates itself so that non-polar hydrocarbon tails can interact with non-polar grease molecules via dispersion forces. Step2: Non-polar hydrocarbon tails penetrate the grease and form...

    General Thoughts

i got a) Barium Shulfate b) Pb2+ + 2Cl- = PbCl2 c) Add sodium hydroxide. Formation of blue precipitate suggests copper ions are present. To confirm dissolve precipitate in excess ammonia; a deep blue complex forms if copper is present. KoshX87 How did u get a precipitate in aqueous state?

    General Thoughts

only 2. you could also explain it by saying bromine has a greater tendency to oxidise in the presence of chlorine and hence will not reduce.
  15. S

    General Thoughts

In the reaction chloride ions are oxidised to chlorine gas and bromine liquids is reduced to bromide ions. Anode: 2Cl(-) ----> Cl2 + 2e- E(oxidation) = -1.36V Cathode: Br2 + 2e- ----> Br- E(reduction) = 1.08V cell potential is -0.28V <0 therefore nonspontanteous

    General Thoughts

i said acids are used as preservatives since they lower the pH of foods. This inactivates enzymes and kills microorganisms responsible for food spoilage as they are denatured at low pH. Thus the acid increases shelf life of food
