Class of 2025 (2025 HSC CHAT)

1984 prescribed but we have free reign over our related so I'm still deciding TT I'll have to make a choice soon, though

Class of 2025 (2025 HSC CHAT)

It's not part of the common module in the HSC but some schools will make you do one anyways  !!

    How important is prelim knowledge

You should at least try to know your very basic foundations for biology and chemistry (think like module 1 basics, since everything is interconnected in some way in science and whatnot) but they're not going to actually SPECIFICALLY test you on preliminary knowledge I believe! So either way...

What's your honest opinion on tuition?

Tutoring is pretty helpful especially if your teachers aren't great/you lack discipline! I only recommend doing tutoring for subjects you believe you're weak at and can't adequately improve on your own at (I say give it some time in yr11 to test the waters for all the subjects and see how you do...

    Study schedules

Hope you can find a better alternative study place!!

    Study schedules

I totally get that! Environment matters a lot more than people think; I just can't get into the zone if my conditions aren't right, and so I lose focus! If you can, I definitely recommend trying to study at a local library or in the most private place you can find. You can also invest in...

    Study schedules

It depends on the person and their schedule, but I definitely think work > time for me. I tend to set myself daily goals based on what I believe I can get done (which is why it's trial-and-error, because it can take time to figure out what you can or can't get done) and unless you're on a...

    Study schedules

To be honest, figuring out a study schedule is 3 parts commitment and 7 parts trial-and-error once you realise it's just not working for you. I also find study apps kind of useless, and I usually forget about them quickly. I have a whiteboard set up above my study desk to plan out my week's...

Year 11 going into Yr 12

During your school break you should honestly just relax since it's the only real break you're gonna get from here on out until you've completed your HSC!! Burnout is dangerous! And you've got the entire year to study for HSC chemistry anyway, so why now? Go out there and have a little fun...

    HSC English Time Management

The best way to improve your in-exam time-management would be to just make sure you know your analyses like the back of your hand so that you don't have to spend time struggling to recall quotes and such! My friends use flashcards to do this ("Body Paragraph 2 analysis 2", etc), and then write...

    How have you been procrastinating?

I've started designing and creating a whole game and working on my computer science skills in the inevitable event that I flunk out of engineering or medicine and become a broke freelance programmer begging on the streets of Fiverr. "$5 for a website? Spare change for a video game?"
  13. fesi2w3

    Motivation?

To be fair, you don't really have to lock in until senior years, I'd honestly just pursue my out-of-school interests and have fun while I can in yr10 and then actually start hammering down in yr11! But really, the best time to start is always now! You should probably start thinking about what...

um how much of bio hsc exam is prelim content

My teachers told me that Prelim content would be integrated into the exam to some capacity but that it wouldn't be as individually focused on as HSC content. Maybe just revise Prelim content very loosely, but focus more on HSC content?

what are your guys holiday study plans?

4 hours a day for me, or the equivalent! Especially since there's so much free-time in the holidays, you might as well get cracking!
  16. fesi2w3

what do u consider a good atar

    95+ to me! Preferably 98+, but I won't shed tears (I think) over 95+

    visual arts extension :(

A visual arts extension would totally pique my interest! Although I probably wouldn't take it for a couple of personal reasons I wonder how much visual arts could really be expanded upon as a course, though? I feel like we get a lot of creative liberty as is

How do i become ok with getting a low atar? (+a note to myself in december)

From one neurodivergent to the next, the HSC course is totally not built for us at all TT I relate so much, unfortunately! My mark can flip between 100 and 70 in the span of a couple of months depending on my condition for the exam, marks are never an indicator of how much you care about a...

Which tutoring centre for science? (Proed vs ZhangsHSC)

Honestly totally agree with this, if you're disciplined enough; self-teaching is better than any sort of tutoring if you can build a genuine interest in it (videos and textbooks have always been my self-teaching best friend). The upcoming summer break is the perfect time to get a head start on...

    “Book Club”?

I was impressed with how good the characterisation was in ALL, really hit close to home to read about Jude. I have to say it was real cathartic if I ignored some of the smaller stuff, although it definitely felt a bit like the author was going through a laundry list of how to make him suffer...
