how big a change is yr 11 maths to yr 10 maths

Because it was a function of y^2 or was it because shadow was trying to scare us with his "harder than MX2" graph? Questions like these often hark back to basics. If you root it, then it becomes a 2U integral. Knowing what the graph looks like helps a lot, because then you'd know the limits...

how big a change is yr 11 maths to yr 10 maths

To address bleak's initial concern; just do the work. Do. It. If you do that, then you'll have no problems with the 2U course. I sucked balls and every dick in the maths department in yr 10 (5 hours learning for addition of algebraic fractions in year 9) but I did the work, and I'm now coming...

    mac or pc

No contest much? You give 4 advantages over mbp, and the Asus model beats it in every aspect for half the money :P... Except Asus doesn't have a glowing picture of a half eaten fruit up front. This just serves to prove my point that you are paying a high premium for apple stuff (in this case...

    mac or pc

Ahhh yes. Sony Vaio. More apple than hp is. All of them are targeted towards the more 'trendy' crowd and you can expect to pay $1000+ for all of their laptops, with middling specs for most of them. The nicest one I've seen from them was an S-series laptop which cost 2k, but had 256gb ssd in...

    mac or pc

There's some really good stuff going on for windows laptops right now. A sale was on for Hp and I got a dv6 laptop for ~$1200, but the specs were quite an improvement from mbp. i7, 8gb ram, 1tb hard drive, blu-ray and discrete graphics. I guess if you're on a budget then you'd want to get the...

    Where are you up to?

Just because they've already finished doesn't necessarily mean that they will produce band 6's. They could have just rushed through the course, and the students have only a shallow knowledge at best of the content. But since this is baulko we're talking about, I doubt this is the case (at least...

    HSC Physics Option Module

Why is Quanta to Quarks so good? I don't understand why everyone in my class wants to do this module. I personally wanted to do Astrophysics.

    p-n junction confusion.

Aaahhhh that did the trick (Y) Cheers Fizzy.

    Most hated module/topic so far?

MX2 Polynomials is the worst thing ever to have hit maths. I find it worse than Conics :P And Birthday Letters...ewwwwwwwwwwww. Motors and Generators was pretty bad, and I hated acidic environment. But I suspect that I'm going to hate Industrial Chem even more.

    p-n junction confusion.

@Fizzy So without an applied potential difference, the p-n junction insulates after the exchange of electrons and holes, right? So if there is an applied potential difference, and when the p-type is connected to the positive terminal vice versa, why does it close the gap? Is it because the...

    p-n junction confusion.

If the p-type semiconductor was connected to the positive terminal, and n-type to the negative terminal, then how can current flow from the p-type to the n-type? As I understand, the electric field across the depletion zone is from right to left (n-type to p-type). This prevents any more...

    Starting conics

@rapidly changing username, aka. BOF, genius..... and z3333....: If you don't like people like me, then please stop coming to this site, because I wouldn't want you to encounter the other hundreds of people on this site who are just like me, just asking questions about maths, english, physics...

    Starting conics

Thanks guys, these are really helpful suggestions, keep em coming! And would you need to know how to construct a conic section? My tutor showed us a method where you draw a ton of parallel lines equal in spacing apart and then constructed different conic sections based on the different...

    Starting conics

Heavy algebra's my middle name... Lol in all honesty I don't mind heavy algebra. I do some 'weighty' questions sometimes to keep my skills up, but generally I don't mind it.

    Starting conics

Just wanna know if there are any things like handy tips or pitfalls that one would want to know about before learning about conics.

    Graphing question plox

Lol so Existential has been unwittingly trying to plot a graph that was designed for a 4U course? Cause ellipses are a part of conics.
  17. benji_10

    Graphing question plox

Is that an ellipse? Since it's stretched out.

Who's getting pokemon black and white?

I'm still going with Pokemon Rainbow, but not as the 3rd installment of 5th gen, but a version that contains all the regions with all pokemon, all gyms, all etc. But that would probably be too large a game and not fit on the cartridge itself.

Who's getting pokemon black and white?

What's the amalgamated version gonna be called? eg. pokemon crystal, emerald, platinum, ??? I'm gonna say Pokemon Rainbow.
