why were the positions of the magnets correct though. if both sides are north then how can there be a magnetic field penetrating through the coil?

What did everybody put for this... I said that i) the magnets were wrong, should be a north and south pole magnet. ii) The coils weren't connected to the commutator. iii) commutator not connected to power supply

was difficult. like i knew the basic concept but found it hard to talk about it for 6 marks worth!!

yes its possible. im also looking to set up something similar on my PC. you will need a 56K fax modem and software such as Symantec's Winfax or the one already built into Windows. Im not sure how to exactly configure it though. I would do a google search for that. What I really wanna know...

how much in detail do we need to know about the experiment? bascially i know that a tube of 1kpa produces striation patterns and a 0.01kpa tube produces a green glow near the anode. Is this enough information for me to answer the question adequately? or should i also study the different patterns...
