You won't be far away from 74. Any uni course that is as low as 74 will generally accept people a few ATAR points lower. Just go fantastic in your last subjects... With any luck Maths may not count towards your ATAR.

Your HSC is in 2014. When I was finishing yr 11, I was on track for a high 90's ATAR with extension 1 and extension 2 English. Things change, a lot. I now do neither and on 11 units, that 1 extra unit will pull my ATAR up a few points probably. Also, what you want to do after school also...

Which presents the issue of having 12 units. It is always wise to have a backup 2 units, so if you can't do history extension, don't drop anything to begin with.

To get an 84 ATAR the best thing to do is to drop Maths for sure and do History Extension. I do it and I find it really interesting and fun, but also easy enough to achieve good marks in.

So basically, I go to a VERY average school... For Ancient, the lowest mark is probably around 45%, and then maybe two above 80, and myself at 90. I ranked 1/9. Would my ranking in what is not a great class not really help much?
