2010 University Offers Thread (UAC, VTAC, etc) (No Spam)

Arts/Law at Uni of Adelaide No offer from VTAC: applied for Law/Arts at Monash, Arts at Melbourne as well as Monash Curious, I thought I should at least get an offer for Monash Arts. Waiting for UAC offers to be released. Now after the no offer was made from VTAC, I'm really uncertain about my...

    law transfer for macquarie university

thanks, I want to learn lawyering skills, don't want to become a jurist. guess UWS would be better for me

when are we meant to make our uni timetables

I like the way UWS arranges lecture and tutorial timetable selection, mostly DIY, but I hate the competition.

    law transfer for macquarie university

Melsc, is Macquarie worth transferring to from UWS? I was thinking, perhaps the only unis that are worth me transferring to would be the Go8 unis + UTS and maybe Macquarie. But apparently, I may be better off staying at UWS if I don't get an offer from any other law school in Sydney. Do have the...

    Adelaide law?

Canberra is just a countrytown, although I may enjoy observing Question Times sitting in the Parliament House. And I heard that rent in Canberra is quite expensive. I did, however, put down ANU as one of my preferences. If I got into Adelaide, it shouldn't be too hard to get into ANU.

    Adelaide law?

I'm pretty bold to say that neither USyd nor UNSW will offer me a place, so I don't have a big chance to go to a Go8 law school unless I move interstate. I may get into Macquarie, but I doubt if it's worth transferring there, I don't think UWS necessarily has worse teaching quality than MQ, may...

    Adelaide law?

I got offered a place at Adelaide Law School, after having completed a year at UWS law; don't really dare to make the move, it will cost money, will take time to settle in, will need to leave my friends in Sydney, will need to find a new place to live. Should I go? But for now I'm just waiting...

Any point transferring from UWS Law to MQ Law?

I used to plan to study hard at UWS Law and then transfer out to any other law school in the Sydney area, even thought about going to ANU (which isn't all that difficult to get into by transfer) or Griffith (which has a good name); even though I didn't like the idea of moving interstate. But...

what is so bad about UWS?

UAI/ATAR are no good indication of how well a student will perform in uni, the way you study at uni is different from the way you study in high school. In my law classes, among the best performing students are the mature age entrants. You also get some whose UAI was high enough to get a place at...

    UNSW vs UWS Law

I personally do not see a point having a discussion on UNSW v UWS law. I imagine those who can gain entry to UNSW law will not generally choose to go to UWS, unless there is some special consideration such as an offer of scholarship by UWS, or location and transport which makes it significantly...

    UWS college

If doing Foundation, based on my personal experience, then UWS might give you some discount when you apply for uni, compared to other more prestigious unis. If you are doing Dip. Science, I'm not sure.

    UWS college

I studied there a few years ago as an international student. It was a very international environment. I did Arts Foundation there, and they taught us how to write essays and reports, and taught us certain things which helped my current uni studies, stuff they taught us there also helped me to...

Bankstown B.A Texts and Traditions 2009 Spring Session, EXPENSIVE TEXTBOOKS

Palestine and Maus are comic books, I've finished reading them from the library, during the holiday. I don't think we'll really need these books in our possession. I also purchased a few of the books from Amazon, cheaper. I've tried the second hand book shops, don't recommend it at all. Not...

    2009 Autumn Semester Examination Period

First year LLB/BA Torts: Distinction Intro to Law: Credit (only 4 marks off a Distinction) Australia and the World: Credit Media and Visual Cultures: Credit GPA: 5.25 I got no UAI, wondering what GPA I'll need to achieve to get a transfer to UTS or Macquarie. I know it's not likely for me to...

    A GPA of 5.5

Depends on what degree you are doing, and what you are good at. It's easy to pass Arts, but not necessarily easy to get good marks.

    Help! Paying for uni

If I were you, I'd go back to NZ. If I had lived in NZ and worked there for 2 years, I'd prefer to study there, actually. The fees are lower, the living costs less, and you could get into Auckland Uni easily. Law schools there are open entry. If you arrived in Australia prior to 27/02/2001, and...

Bankstown B.A Texts and Traditions 2009 Spring Session, EXPENSIVE TEXTBOOKS

Well, apart from Professor Wright, I also sent an email to Dr Michael Symonds, who was listed as the coordinator of this unit, but he sent me back an email, stating that he will no longer be coordinating this unit; instead, Dr Samar Habib will be coordinating the unit. It will be this person: Dr...

Bankstown B.A Texts and Traditions 2009 Spring Session, EXPENSIVE TEXTBOOKS

I will be doing this unit 100968 at Bankstown next semester, the spring session, and so I checked on connect books website the textbook list, and to my utter surprise, the total price for all the books is a whopping $218.95, eight books to read. What is unfair is, prior to next semester, the...

Who's afraid of the big scary law degree?

I'm first year at UWS, LLB/BA, and the first semester we are doing Intro to Law (case, legislation research and stuff) and Torts. And Torts has only 2 exams, that's it, analysing cases. Whereas Intro to Law we had to do a group research task, then followed by a letter of advice, then a case...
