Cause its a pain in the arse to get all 3 parts. Maybe the parents pushed him/her into the uni course but I highly doubt the parents would have any say into postgraduate studies, in Australia anyway.

Yep, and assignments (sorry should've said that before) Well I found it to be. But I hear that this year there are 2 2hr papers. Last year I was really stretched for time so the different format mght be a bit easier on time. But everyone knows what Farmer is like so expect it to be tough!

Don't stress about it. Just make sure you can do all the tutes and you'll be fine. Go stress about acst200 cause that'll be alot harder :p

How'd you guys find test 2? I thought it was a pretty fair test, was glad that there were little to no questions on the general insurance readings. But I think that the final will be heavily based on the general insurance readings, going by what's in past exam papers.

Yeah but we're getting a new library with robots! But seriously it doesn't matter where you go to study actuarial studies since the most important part (imo) is getting you exepmtions and hence getting PartI.

You'll need to know how to plug in numbers into formulas. The formulas will either be provided for you or you'll be allowed to bring in your own formula sheet for some subjects. Like Boxxhead said annuities plus stuff like finding the present value or simple ratios are about as "mathy" it gets...

I don't know about the structure at UNSW but at Macq we do a mixture of econ, stat and maths in the first year. Then some econ with plenty of stat and some non-statistical actuarial stuff (financial maths is what they call it) in second year. And in 3rd year its all statistics relating to...

Thankfully no, but we still have to use his notes for one of the parts of the subject (its divided into 4 parts). And his notes are way to detailed. The current lecturers suck! They won't even tell us what proportion of the class is divided into true/false and short answer. Hope you're...
