    Visual Communication

Yeah, it does seem kind of unfair that it's based entirely on UAI. I think something like this should be based more on portfolio and written entry. Just seems more... I don't know, relevant?

    Alexander (SPOILERS)

I agree. And it was kind of rambling and incoherent. Actually, it reminded me of a tv documentary, especially the credits. Did anyone else really not like the soundtrack? (It sounded like Vangelis, who I can live with for Blade Runner etc. but it just seemed weird for this movie).

    Visual Communication

Ooh... I know. Scary isn't it? :( I finished in '03 with 97.something... I went to TAFE for a year (because I deferred a UTS - not Vis Comm - course), and then did Mature Age Entry (you know, with the personal statement, interview, and portfolio thing). The only reason I could actually do that...

    Timetable help

It is for a Spring Semester Vis Comm subject: "85503 Researching Design Processes". And it's a core subject. But, I'm not that worried, since it's a Spring Semester thing. Now, if it was an Autumn one, I'd more slightly concerned.

    Timetable help

And I'm assuming that if I try to construct a timetable and it says: "No activities are currently offered for this selection", that all shall be made clear on enrolment day.

    Timetable help

And we only have to construct the timetable for the Autumn/first semester?

    "My Study Plan" thing.

It says "Offered" on both of them, so I guess everything is ok... Thanks for the help! It just kind of worried me.

    "My Study Plan" thing.

I'm entirely confused. I was just poking around in the "My Student Admin", familiarising myself with the layout, and being curious in general, when I found that I've been offered 2 courses; one that I want, and the other which I have never seen. What I don't understand is that both are HECS...

    Visual Communication

There is, I've seen them posting before in the " UTS Faculty of Design" etc forum here. I'm fishing for a response... but I'm not sure if I'll get one. *shrug*

    B. Design (Vis Comm)

I was just wondering if anyone knows what (if any) textbooks we would definitely need for this course first semester - just so I could go out and grab them earlier? edit: *cough* Is anyone actually doing this course? :(

    Tafe Results - how'd every1 go?

Hrm, I finished my 2004 Cert IV in Design, and just got my transcript. Everything is either Pass (Ungraded) or Distinction. I was worried about passing a couple of things because some of the teachers lost my work, including my final major report. I mean, what sort of teachers actually LOSE your...

    2005 UTS Offers

Ah, 13 years actually. I deferred for a year. :D

    2005 UTS Offers

Bachelor of Design in Visual Comm B Arts in Int Stds - full time. It's kind of hard to believe I'm going to be studying for 6 years.

    does "shallow" art pass?

Meh, I don't see why not. Even if it's a purely aesthetic work there has to have been SOME thought process behind it as to why it is purely aesthetic. Which, I mean... obviously there was if you've done it. Besides which, you could just say that it was coming from the structural frame, or the...

    Artexpress

Well, last year I knew someone who received a final mark of 85 in Art, and they ended up getting into ArtExpress. Just remember that a really good mark doesn't assure that you will get into ArtExpress - the curators pick the artworks that go into the exhibitions in their various galleries...

    How fast do you read?

Hrm... around 100+ pages per hour. I read faster if it's a book I'm actually interested in, or if I have access to food. Otherwise I'm continually breaking off reading to go find food.

    Musical Instruments

Yeah, especially if you want to learn that huge concert pedal harp. Fortunately, I only want to learn a 36-44 string lever harp. That ends up being around $5000+

    Enmore Tafe....

Not that bad a course... Yeah, I'm finishing up a Design Fundamentals Certificate IV at Enmore. Is that the course you're talking about? If so - it's a pretty good course for building up your portfolio, and getting the chance to look into different areas of design through major projects...

    Tafe application forms

Eh... I used the tiny little spaces, and wrote in tiny little capitals. I still got in. :P

    Artexpress

I'm so glad they didn't ask for mine. It was all a load of waffle that made little-to-no sense. Either way, look on the bright side - you've probably been shortlisted, and they thought your work was so great, that they want to make sure you did it yourself. :D
