If u want a good summarised tbook, then go for Heinemann (it's got nice pictures, simple and concise info, and it's sooo shiny :p). If u want a really nice and detailed info tbook, then go for Jacaranda. I didnt use Excel in Yr 12, but bought it in Yr 11, but i cant tell u how it was...because...

Yep, i jus did what inasero did, and jus practiced it a lot. Dont worry, after some time, u'll be able to get them quite easily, u jus have to keep on working at it. I think the Type 3 and 4s, are the patterns/sequence ones i.e. 'what comes next in this sequence?' If i remember correctly...

    Question for past HSCers

From beginning to end. I was too scared that if i did it in a different order, then i could miss out on Qs...and it also makes it difficult to pace urself (i.e. Qs left vs time left) haha yeah, so true :D
  10. AK Gumbi

how do u approach the exam ?

Yeah i did what tooheyz did...went thru the paper straight and circled Qs which i wasnt sure of, and got back to them at the end. During the reading time, i jus tentatively flipped from page to page, praying that there wasnt any random/extremely hard Qs :D And make sure u pace urself...u...

    Question

I only had to find suppl materials for my Frontline module (Mod C) (and ofcourse, change, but u guys r doing journeys now anyways). For King Lear (Mod B), u may have to find some critical readings/productions, or ur teacher may give them to u. We didnt have to do anything with BNW/BL (Mod A)

    Hardest part ?

Yeah, i guess u had to memorise some stuff, but like for relativity for eg, it's much easier to understand the concept and be able to apply it, than just memorise the definition of it which makes it hard to apply.

    I Give Up!!!

Hey, calm down man. There r a lot of resources here at BOS which could help u in ur essays, and of course, there r the english forums which im sure, if u post ur Q, then u'll get it answered. There r a lot of smart ppl here at BOS :p Jus chill out for a while...but dont give up!

    Best Chemistry textbook?

Go Chem Contexts! It's so nice and shiny :p
  15. AK Gumbi

    Hardest part ?

So ur basically saying physics = maths? I agree, some of the course was irrelevant, but most of it was interesting and if u actually *learnt* and tried to *understand* the stuff, then there would be no need to *memorise*.
  16. AK Gumbi

    Conics!

    conics... *shudders*
  17. AK Gumbi

    Trig proof problems.

    np :)
  18. AK Gumbi

    Trig proof problems.

    Well, sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1 (i.e. the trig circle) and so cos^2(x) = 1 - sin^2(x). Therefore, cos(2x) = 1 - sin^2(x) - sin^2(x) = 1 - 2sin^2(x) Then similarly with 2cos^2(x) - 1, except this time u make the sin^2(x) substitution.

    Bio vs Physics vs Chem....

I reckon chem requires the most amount of work in the sciences. I think phy = bio in terms of workload, or bio may be jus ahead. But if u do all 3 sciences, make sure u actually like science, and dont do it for the scaling!
