OK, here's an analogy for you. A car is turning in a circular path. It increases its speed but its force towards the center of the circle stays the same. It hence underturns and skids off the road. Consider this satellite as a car turning in a circle. When the car loses speed but force stays the...

    Trick question? Shipwrecks and salvage

These kind of questions aren't free marks. Where did the iron form? Does the nail rust or not? They're both difficult questions to answer in this question and i bet most of you people who consider this as "free marks" got at least one of these wrong.

Think about Newton's concept of escape velocity. When the cannon is fired slower, it curves into the earth. So when this rocket goes slower, what do you think its going to do?

    Quanta to Quarks thoughts

SCREW YOU MANHATTAN PROJECT!!!! This question took so goddamm long to answer properly. Is it just me or for all developments did you need to use 3-4 pages?

    Multiple Choice

    1. A 2. D 3. B 4. D (wierd question, but if you reduce the velocity then it would go into a smaller elliptical orbit which is why i picked it) 5. C (range is the same for x and 90-x, and when fired at 50 it would have a larger vertical velocity) 6. B 7. A (use right hand palm rule and...

    Graphs and Diagrams..

Hey KFunk, why do you have energy on the y-axis on your graph. I know they are kind of related, but shouldn't it be force? Also, to answer this question I think you would also need the electrostatic force graph there too. Edit: Also, nice graph, that's exactly what it looks like.

    question plz help

But that doesn't really work. The equation should really have 2 deuteriums on the left hand side which gives 2 protons, 2 electrons 4 neutrons on both sides, giving the same mass. I think they'd have to give you more information for a question like this.

    Good Luck Everyone

So many people finishing tommorrow and I'm happy to be one of them. Good luck everyone!

    Graphs and Diagrams..

Just draw the graph of the strong nuclear force (starts repulsive passes x axis hits a turning point and goes back to zero) and on the same graph draw the electrostatic one (ie a hyperbola y=1/x sort of thing.)

part one dot points - confused

They're not really the same thing. The first dotpoint is showing what lead to the Bohr model of the atom while the 5th is about how his model was used to predict the wavelength of photons emitted from the Hydrogen atom.

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

I'm not talking about the anode, I'm talking about the nail. How could the solution be the cathode? definition of an electrode is: A conducting terminal of a cell. The solution could never be an electrode.

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

Er, You're wrong. Have you ever heard of the term cathode? Because according to what you're saying, the cathode is the bottom of the beaker. The fact is, the nail acts as the cathode and iron forms on it. I do agree with you about it definately not being a galvanic cell.

    multiple choice...WTF?

I think you're thinking of limewater, which turns milky white when exposed to CO2. Neither limestone or limewater contain CO2.

    multiple choice...WTF?

Answer to Question 14 is definately D: River source has high desolved oxygen and is unpolluted, hence a low BOD. Also stable pH, hence site 2. Limestone contains Calcium carbonate which is basic, so this is site 3(most basic) The town can have industry which causes acid rain, lowering pH...

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

Tell me, is there any real difference in terms of electrochemistry between the two metals touching each other and being separated by a few centimetres by an electrolyte? There isn't if you're talking about corrosion protection.

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

Everything that Abtari said in his post I 100% agree with. Thats exactly what I put for this question. Also, with that 7 marker, i hope to god they don't mark it as an english question but instead see it as a way to test students' knowledge about different corrosion resistance methods.

    Chemistry - General Thoughts

I second that. Pretty easy test, 7 markers weren't too strenuous or hard to write about. It seemed really short to me but maybe I missed something out it was all a bit of a blur to me. To all you people feeling bad about the 90+ people, just remember markers pick apart long answers and most...

What mark do you think you got?

I'm hoping 90+ but I'm not so sure. I don't think most of you guys understand how hard some of the marking is in the hsc...

    Hows your room?

My desk is about a metre higher than it should be because of all the maths past papers and notes. Have to study on my bed now because if I even touch my desk there's a huge avalanche of paper which crashes down onto my feet.
