    Radiohead Appreciation Thread

Yeah i've been pretty disappointed with The Eraser. Considering Radiohead pretty much define music for me (no flames now, just my call) this came as a disappointment. Doesn't hold a candle to anything else, really. Doesn't have that richness I love in Radiohead. Could grow on me, but I don't...

    Ben Elton Anyone?

I also read The First Casualty of his, also good. He's a great writer. I find him so black in his comedy yet still such a compelling read. Brings that tired detective thriller genre to nice new levels.

Hey guys these are legal downloads of Muse live gigs. Some of their new material is available - http://www.muse-download.com/

    Why do you read?

I read to be stimulated, provoked and entertained. In response to why do people react against what's popular: it's part of the human condition. Stereotypes form around pieces of pop culture. People react against the source rather than the stereotype which eventuates. It happens all the time...

    Advice for a friend...

This is a cliche, but if they're good enough friends, this will make things awkward for about 3 seconds, and they'll move on. Not saying anything and letting situations like this simmer is what breaks good friendships up.

    New MUSE album!

I'd say the single "Knights of Cydonia" will be available for download within a few days. I believe it's getting a US release on the 13th as a single. Haven't heard any of the album yet, can't find it. :S

    MYER STOCKTAKE SALE!!l

Some things were pretty damn cheap. I picked up Family Guy movie for like $18 and the Truman Show dvd for $12. Also grabbed a new sweater for $40, reduced from like $70. I'm not a myer fan though. They never stock my size in clothes and always seem as if it's the biggest deal ever when I ask...

Two words: Ray Liotta. Don't ever think you can't go places with truly tragic skin.

    Last movie you've seen?

i'm disappointed you guys didn't enjoy candy - thought there was a certain pretention, but the brilliant performances made the trip worthwhile. the voiceover/underwater scenes were poor, and writing-on-the-walls scene was overdone, but apart from that, thought it was really solid.

    American Beauty?

work out your semi colon usage first, and yes it'd be a decent text to use - especially between ricky and his dad.

    I need advice =)

"About a 6 months ago, she told me that she was uncomfortable around me because we were getting too close too quickly." Find a new girl. If she didn't want to get close to you then, she won't now. Spend time with her as a friend without the ambition of one day it becoming something more.

    Last movie you've seen?

90% of all spencer's reviews were BS ever since she went nuts over the terrible matrix sequels.

    Girls Please Answer This.

Bahaha that's brilliant. I find this funny. If women chose to spend less time making themselves up it'd be praised as a forward step in gender equality. When a guys decide that they like to actively take care of their appearance, they're fags, or instantly judged as arrogant. And then...

    Bookshops

Re: Canberra Bookshops Odd, I was in Canberra on tuesday and dropped into the little bookshop in Manuka there on the strip with the cafes opposite the cinema. Quite nice, good vibe. Picked up a copy of poetics that i'd wanted for a while now.

    Literary Journals

Just discovered a few of these lately after picking up the latest copy of Heat from a friend who has a subscription. Anyone regularly read any of these? Thoughts? And the all important: anyone submitted any of their work and had it rejected/published? Tell your story! Two of my lecturers have...

Review the last book you read

cool idea. Metamorphosis - franz kafka short little novella from kafka, probably his most well known work. basically as an exercise in allegory/interpretation, Metamorphosis maps the plight of gregor who awakes one morning to find himself transformed into a man-sized bug. what continues is his...
