    male/female australian scientist

See my reply last year. You are not going to be asked to identify a practicising Australian Scientist but you may be asked about hpw you gathered the info and you might include the name in the answer. You also might be asked about the field they studied in...

    plank or einstein

Just clarrifying something tpc13 said. Planck did not describe quantisation of light or the wave/particle duality or use the term photon. The quantisation he described was due to a property of the black body (oscillators) that were emitting the light.

    Centripetal force

Velocity is not a force. In the answer you have given, remove the friction the car will continue forward due to Inertia. Inertia is not a force. Newton's 1st Law is what you are describing. If velocity was a force, then its units would be Newton's and the result would be as you said it...

some questions from HSC 2004 !help!

3 You have included a contradiction and wrong physics. The reason for the calculation, is because the question said you had to include mathematical support. The centripetal force is the net force which is supplied by the friction between the road and the tyre. Other things, you could...

Synthesis of elements in stars by fusion

Main Sequence. Hydrogen->Helium Red Giant. He->Carbon He-> other heavier elements Discuss how mass of star efffects what elements are formed Discuss how mass determines temperature. How elements are formed in onion skin arrangement. Balance of gravitation and radiation pressure...

some questions from HSC 2004 !help!

    18. You needed to have at least two supporting, so the comment about net force is fine. You would have to explain how come you knew this. You also had to use the centripetal force formula as you had to have mathematical support. Type it in and I will tell you your mark. 20. Its a cable...

    Help with this physics question.

Note the person is accelerating uniformly, so the ball will be left behind because when it is dropped it will continue at a constant velocity. As he is accelerating, the horizontal spacing has to increase proportional to t2

    Some Tips

I probably won't get a chance xrtzx. I would note that the trend of using tables used in Biology did not follow through to Chem, so probably won't follow through to Physics.
  9. H

    Some Tips

Yes but there isn't a need to.

    Another photon energy question

    1. Calculate the frequency of light c=frequency x wavelength 2. Calculate the amount of energy in a single photon E=hf 3. Calculate the Energy required. E=Pt 4. Calculate the number of photons Total Energy/Energy of one photon. In the question above, they told you it was the same...

    transistors?

I am refering to the question 24 in the 2004 HSC and the one I typed earlier in this thread http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?p=1989526#post1989526 No you no longer need to remember Lenard's experiment.
  12. H

    Some Tips

Jago had it basically correct at http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?p=1991974#post1991974 But you would also have to explain why this changed time of flight.

    Test Format

Thanks Jnr, just trying to see if there is a trend in the science papers to place barriers on how much students can write.
  14. H

    Test Format

In the written answers, did they make you fill a lot of answers in tables or diagrams?

    successone motors n generators

Stephanie I am assuming you are talking about the question with the coil in the mag field. Only look at one side of the coil or you start getting confused. You are reducing the magnetic field in the middle, so you want to stop the reduction, so you want to form a magnetic field coming out...

    Some Tips

That is an improvement you could make but bot an error. You had to do one calculation to show it was impossible not both. The marking scheme is on the board's site.
  17. H

    Some Tips

What do you mean by the magnets being North? Look at the wires for two of the errors. The third is to do with the orientation of the coils and the torque that each side won't produce.

    Some Tips

Most people just didn't recognize the idea of back emf. A lot of people learn the theory but not how it applies in the real world. It is how they are trying to catch rote learners.

    transistors?

It isn't any harder than the Westinghouse question, where if you just listed advantages of AC and disadvantages of DC you couldn't obtain full marks. You just need to put your list of advantages from the dot point in the right form.

    transistors?

Which, the Transistors or Photoelectric effect?
